Steal percentage is tracked using a HUD in online poker and measures the frequency of open-raises specifically from the cutoff, button, and small blind when the action folds around. A healthy steal percentage indicates a player is applying appropriate positional pressure rather than only entering pots with premium hands.

A regular with a 45% steal percentage from the button, reflecting an aggressive but standard late-position raising range.
A nit with a steal percentage under 20%, suggesting they only raise late position with strong hands.
Strategy Tips
Track opponents' steal percentages to identify players who are over-raising late position, which makes them good targets for light 3-bets and blind defends. A steal percentage that's too low signals a passive, exploitable player from late position, while one that's unsustainably high may indicate overly wide ranges vulnerable to resteals.
