Nut advantage is a key concept in modern range-versus-range analysis, distinct from overall range advantage, which considers total equity rather than just the strongest hands. A player with the nut advantage can profitably use larger bet sizes and overbets, since their opponent cannot comfortably continue against maximum pressure without the top of their own range. Preflop raisers often retain a nut advantage on boards that connect well with premium hands like big pairs.
