What Is Wet Board?
Wet boards, such as two-tone connected flops like 9-8-7 with two suited cards, give a wide range of hands strong equity through flush and straight draws. Because so many hands have meaningful equity on a wet board, bet sizing and continuation strategy typically need to be more aggressive to charge draws appropriately.
Examples
A flop of J-10-9 with two hearts, considered very wet due to multiple straight and flush possibilities.
A board of 8-7-6 rainbow, wet because of heavy straight potential despite no flush draw.
Strategy Tips
Bet larger and continuation bet more frequently on wet boards to charge the many drawing hands in opponents' ranges for the right to continue. Reassess your hand's relative strength carefully on wet boards, since even strong made hands like top pair can be behind a large percentage of a calling range. Be prepared to fold more readily to heavy aggression on wet boards, since raises and check-raises in these spots often represent completed draws or strong made hands. Use range advantage and nut advantage as key considerations -- whoever's range contains more of the strongest possible hands on a wet board can often bet more aggressively and profitably.
