What Is Quads?

Quads rank above a full house and below only a straight flush in standard hand rankings, making them an extremely rare and powerful holding. Because quads occur so infrequently, they are almost always the winning hand at showdown, and players holding them typically try to extract maximum value through slowplaying or careful bet sizing.

Examples

1

He flopped quad sevens, an extremely rare and powerful hand.

2

Her quads on the river crushed her opponent's flush, resulting in a massive pot.

Strategy Tips

Slowplay quads on earlier streets when the board is unlikely to scare opponents away, then build the pot as more community cards appear. Be aware of the rare cases where a full house or higher quads could still beat you, particularly in games with community cards shared widely. Balance your slowplaying tendencies so opponents can't automatically assume a passive line means monster strength. Consider betting quads directly if the board texture is unlikely to improve your opponent's calling range further.
