What Is Flush?
A flush requires five cards of a single suit, and when two players both hold a flush, the hand is won by whoever has the highest-ranking card within the flush, with subsequent cards used as further tiebreakers if needed. Flushes are a strong hand in Texas Hold'em, ranking above straights and below full houses in the standard hand ranking hierarchy.
Examples
A player holds an Ace-high flush in spades, beating an opponent's King-high flush in the same suit.
A board with three hearts allows a player holding two hearts in their hand to complete a flush.
Strategy Tips
Be aware of the possibility of a higher flush when you hold a low or middle flush on a three-flush board, since being outkicked in the same suit can be costly. Value bet flushes aggressively when you hold the nut or near-nut flush, since opponents often pay off with weaker made hands or flush draws that missed. Watch for paired boards that could give an opponent a full house over your flush. Consider your opponent's calling range carefully before committing large amounts of chips with a non-nut flush on heavily coordinated boards.
