Snap Call

A snap call happens without the usual pause for thought, often because the calling player has the nuts, a hand too strong to consider folding, or is pot-committed regardless of the bet size. It contrasts with a tank, where a player visibly deliberates before acting.

Be aware that a snap call can be read by observant opponents as a strength tell, so consider taking a beat even with obvious calls if you want to avoid giving off timing tells. Conversely, watch opponents' snap calls as information -- a fast call often signals a hand near the top or bottom of their range rather than a close decision. In online poker, timing tells are especially exploitable since bet-to-call timing can be tracked across sessions. Using a consistent pace regardless of hand strength helps avoid becoming exploitable through timing patterns.
