What Is Freeroll?
Freeroll tournaments are commonly used by poker sites to attract new players or reward loyalty, offering a real cash prize pool without requiring a buy-in. The term is also used more broadly in a hand context to describe a situation where a player is guaranteed to at least split a pot but has a chance to win it outright, such as having the same made hand as an opponent while also holding a redraw to a better hand.

Two players both hold the same flush on the turn, but one also has a redraw to a higher flush or full house, giving them a freeroll on the river.
