Is DraftKings or FanDuel Better?

SJScott Jones··Sports BettingSports Betting

DraftKings and FanDuel are the two largest sportsbooks in the US, and for most bettors, either is an excellent choice. But they are not identical — each has meaningful strengths that make it better for specific types of bettors.

Welcome Bonus

DraftKings: Bet $10, Get $200 in Bonus Bets (instant, no conditions on the qualifying bet winning).

FanDuel: Bet $10, Get $200 in Bonus Bets. Slightly lower value but equally simple to claim.

Winner: DraftKings — $50 more in bonus bets with the same simplicity.

Odds Quality

Both books offer competitive odds on major markets. On average, the difference is typically less than 1 cent per dollar wagered. DraftKings tends to have slightly better NFL odds, while FanDuel often edges out on NBA player props. The real difference comes from promotional boosts — both offer daily odds boosts on select markets. Serious bettors should have accounts at both to line shop.

Winner: Tie — both are competitive. Having both accounts is the optimal strategy.

App Experience

DraftKings has the more feature-rich app. The same-game parlay builder, live betting interface, and bet tracking tools are industry-leading. The downside is added complexity — newer bettors can find the interface overwhelming.

FanDuel has the cleaner, more intuitive app. Placing a bet takes fewer taps. The bet slip is more straightforward, and the navigation is simpler. First-time sports bettors consistently rate FanDuel as easier to use.

Winner: FanDuel for beginners, DraftKings for experienced bettors.

Payout Speed

Both offer fast withdrawals via PayPal and Play+ (1-24 hours). DraftKings has a slight edge on average processing time for PayPal withdrawals. Bank transfers take 2-5 days on both platforms. Neither has a significant advantage here.

Winner: Tie — both are fast and reliable.

State Availability

As of April 2026, DraftKings operates in approximately 25 states and FanDuel in approximately 22 states. Both continue to expand into new markets as additional states legalize sports betting.

Which Should You Choose?

If you are a beginner, start with FanDuel for the simpler experience. If you are an experienced bettor who values advanced features, same-game parlays, and DFS integration, DraftKings is the better fit. The ideal answer for serious bettors is both — use two accounts to compare odds on every bet and capture promotional boosts from each.
