Great episode.

I have one quick question regarding table poker's advice of looking at your cards right when you are dealt them. You said you would be looking left but I've seen a lot of games where the action goes clockwise and others where it goes counterclockwise. I'm guessing you mean that you are looking left meaning the players to act behind you (the most important players).

Can't wait for the tiltlessness video.

My advice would be to stop playing at the kitchen table with your drunk friends. Been there. Hard to remember which direction the deal is supposed to go when you've consumed a bottle of Jack and are playing Spit in the Ocean and Baseball. Smile

(Yeah, watch those who are behind you, regardless of direction.)

Trust me, the Tiltless episode will be epic.

thanks so much for this series, tommy and wayne.

in this ep you mentioned, that we are all one and we shouldnt harm ourselfes nor other beings.

i agree, but still i cant put it together speaking of poker.

you say, that is important not to berate people and stuff like this, and the money you take, doesnt matter so much. correct me, if i am wrong.

the first part is easy, but i dont understand the second.
isnt poker all about winning other peoples money?
and why doesnt that harm them?

ok, they might have a good time, playing w/ me, but how do they feel, when they get home busto? is it their responsibility alone?

I'll get Rusty to check that out. What version of iPod do you have, and how old is it (which generation)?

Gotta say this was probably my favorite visual moment I've come up with in any of the EPTPE vids yet. Poke Tongue

I had never heard someone's view on harmlessness in poker before...about the part referring to "inflicting suffering on the suckers by taking their money." It's pretty neat how far you can end up taking this right view concept. Well done Tommy.

JackTheRiva,

These are excellent questions, the last one especially, because in the question itself lies a piece of the answer. If you do something that makes me unhappy, who is responsible for my unhappiness? You or me?

I think of the issue of harmlessness at poker as being a series of questions that require unpacking; you can’t even see the deepest, truest questions and answers until you clear away the stuff on the upper layers. My answer to your questions is I don’t have any, yet. I’m still unpacking.

awesome vid tommy. Does ur advice change at all when it comes to MTT's, and online Mtts more specifically for br management. Also shot taking in MTT's?

The one nice thing about them is its insta stop loss and even though u are tilted you cant go keep giving away money.

I'm going to watch the rest of the series and go back over i feel if i am going to continue to make it as an mtt player/ poker player in general this series is going to really help Through some rough patches of variance.

I don't yet understand your question. Could you be more specific about which advice you were thinking of when you wrote your post?

True. You are protected again financial self-destruction. Still, passing the tilt forward can be pretty brutal on the rest of the world if you're a "kick the dog" type.

in general this series is going to really help Through some rough patches of variance.

Glad to hear it!

Sorry i just watched the vid so i didnt elaborate my question. In the vid you talk alot about NL and limit cash br management live and online I was just curious if you have any different insight on anything for tournament players when it comes to poker bankroll?

We really didn't have any specifics on BR for limit/nl/online/table poker, either. Our point is do whatever makes you feel the least discomfort, which generally means trying to be over-rolled.

We are trying to help reduce suffering which leads to tilting. The concept of BR management is what is important, not the specifics which are usually different for everyone.

Personally, I have learned far more from losing and failing than from easy success. Who is to say what an opponent will gain or lose as a result of our success? Maybe the opponent will experience an improvement in the his game that will profit for a lifetime. Or maybe the opponent will make a major life choice about spending time in certain endeavors.

If there is a belief that each person at the table chose to play on a given day and may process the experience to his or her best advantage in the long run, then I am willling to dignify his choice with my best effort.

I've never had so much changes in my game like I have right now.

It's not really how I do specific betting or raising actions within specific hands but how I react to happenings on the table and how I react to results of sessions. One step farther is how I react to swings and stuff.

I inserted pauses to my game and it helped a lot. And I'm so more relaxed. It's not only that I'm better within the game (actually I've got some losses right today) but it's all about that I know when I've done bad decisions or good decisions.

To sum up: Your series make me feel in harmony while, before and after playing poker. Before your series, I was a very aggressive and unplesant player. That's changed and hopefully, it will keep this way.

So, thank you at this point for your great great great series! Smile You two are cool guys.

As much as I have loved the first 6 episodes, I have to admit I have a qualm with a section in the 7th episode. The BR management is great and helpful, however the harmlessness segment I have an issue with.
While he adresses what harmlessness is, I don't think it's really possible to do no harm to an opponent even you are "at peace" while doing it. You may not send out harmful vibes, but you still are doing the act of harm if that buyin in front of your opponent is the rent payment and if he would lose it to you, causes a bad emotional reaction of not-peace.

I listened to the last the last 3 minutes and I forgot the last 56 minutes of video.

As far as harmlessness when we choose to play poker we are playing a game and we must accept the personal responsibility of our actions. If someone is playing with rent money they choose to harm themselves, we did not. We can not stop someone from choosing to hurt themselves. Viewing winning a pot as harming someone is wrong view in my opinion.
