You can play the hand either way honestly, I usually tend towards more aggressive play the weaker the pair is as a potential bluff catcher or the more congruent it is with my range.
I tend to bet flop to prevent myself from being value owned vs villains who can bet QQ- thinly for value on the turn and river and/or 3barrel them off of whatever marginal hand they have.
