Euh Lock poker is a huge chunk of merge, and cake+lock combined will have almost as big of a player database as merge without lock...

I'm just quoting from the article, which said that Lock will be a separate site (which is why I used the word "supposedly" because it doesnt really make sense).
Lock's current software is the Merge software, which is fine IMO. It's the shitty Cake software that they're about to switch over to that people are likely concerned about.
Like someone else pointed out, I would also expect many of those Lock players to jump onto another skin and still play on Merge, as they probably dont want to play in a tiny player pool either. ...
