$10 per month for basic hand reading tips and hearing the host whining because he can't beat donkaments seems fair to me.
LMFAO. You must be from the UK Reg?

Yep
I'm not knocking the podcast as I enjoy listening to it but to describe it as a learning tool and charge for it, seems a bit much to me.
It's no skin off my nose and I'm obviously trolling a bit but I do genuinely believe that only mugs will subscribe to it as a learning tool.
I would be more inclined to subscribe for entertainment value if episodes with the likes of Limon were likely to be the order of the day but not if a lot of them are going to be strategy based, with the host just going through some standard hands he played in the last week or so.
I really enjoy listening to DeucesPlay and, as a multi-month DC member, i'm happy to get it for free.
I do believe it should also be free for the 1month subscribers tbh.
Now if I had to choose between 1 month of Bart for 10$ or one month of full-DC (incl Bart) for 30$ ... the choice would be eaaaasy !
Hope you're back on your feet, Bart.
I love listening to the podcast but i think it should be free if it's going to be on DC. DC subscribers get everything else on the website for free, why not this too?

This.
I don't really get the differentiation between multi month subscribes and month to month.
Being a US player it doesn't make a ton of sense to buy a multi month subscription since I have no idea if poker is even an option for me in 6 months. I'm already losing out on the discount because of this. It would suck if I miss out on this as well.
I guess I can maybe see trying to keep people from signing up for one month and downloading a ton of the podcasts, but I don't see how that is a lot different than the videos and if that's the concern why not make it so you still get the podcast as long as you have gone a certain number of months in a row as a month by month subscriber.
No offense but DC is $30 (worth every penny) but imo, having DC membership and this podcast is not worth 33% more than DC alone. I think Bart will make more money but have significantly fewer listeners, which I guess is +EV for him.

Indeed, I guess if i was him i would consider doing the same thing. I mean it just seems weird that he's using the DC website but it's the only thing that costs extra.
Are all the current archived Podcasts still going to eb available once you start the subscription, as I have not listened to them all yet, sowould be good to know about them also.

Yes all of the current archives will still be available for free.
In response to some of the above comments having a monthly DC subscription will not give you discounted access to the new subscription podcast. Originally, the podcast was going to be on its own site with no discounted access to anyone. However, DC and I came to an agreement which kept the podcast hosted here and gave benefits to multi-month subscribers.
i am a fan of your podcast and i think i have listen to everyone but i will not be purchasing at $9/mo
as others have said for $30/mo i can join any of the major training sites and get more content than i have the time to watch from some of the best minds in poker
I think what people don't understand here is that charging non multi-month subscribers is basically a free roll for DC and Bart. DC has no incentive to keep it free because they will not lose any current or future subscribers for the one podcast. Because of this, even if a small fraction of the previous listeners pay $9/ month, Bart makes more money and DC can pay him less (not have to pay him at all?). It's just basic economics; when people are willing to pay for something, you charge for it.
FWIW I, a non multi-month subscriber, have listened to all the podcasts up to now but will not be subscribing. I also am not the slightest bit mad at Bart or DC, in fact this is probably better because good info like this shouldn't be given away for free.
I love the podcast- I have listened to almost every episode but I have to say 10 bucks a month is pretty steep- that's 2.50 an episode when your average Itunes podcast is usually 99c. each. I have to be honest I probably wouldn't pay 2.50 for each episode especially when the sound quality is questionable at times.
I think the free for multi-month members idea is great and I would snap purchase a year of DC membership but I live in the freest country in the world where we are so free that we have departments dedicated to skull bashing any poker site that lets us deposit the money we earn, pay taxes on, and want to play poker with in the privacy of our homes.

It's not a jazz concert bootleg, so sound quality isn't paramount to me. I've never had an issue with sound that I thought made it even difficult to understand what was being said.
As for the comparison to the average podcast, I don't see the connect. I like "This American Life" as much as the next guy, but Ira Glass ain't handing out tips that potentially put real money in my pocket. It's not an entertainment podcast -- the function of Deuce Plays is to teach you to be a better, more thinking poker player. Being a better, more thinking player makes you more profitable. That's easily worth $10 a month to me. Obviously, YMMV.
$9.95 vs $30 a month for a full site could be a stretch only becasue of the perceived value that $30 a month with access to the whole back catalogue of videos offers.
The issue for you isnt really a price but if your content will consistently be valuable enough for people to continue to subscribe. E.g. Your Slow Habit/Improva/Baluga/hand reviews are awesome content but can you deliver that every week/month so people will keep subscribing?
This line of reasoning is so LOL to me. 90% of the DC 'archive' is basically useless in the current poker environment, both for live and online players.
Bart has been pounding out relevant, topical content for years FOR FREE, and now it is time for the man to get paid. He is right there on the front line of the live poker scene. I would have rather seen him do straight up 1$/episode downloads from ITunes, because I think he would have made more $$ in the long run, but whatever - I hope it goes well for him.
When they cut him back to 2 eps a month, I was the first to freak out, and I am glad DC management came to their senses.
so even if we are paying for a DC subscription, we have to pay an additional $10 for podcast?
