Some hands

Today i made a try at NL25 with the new strategy. I'm up with almost 2BI despite of having lost one AA/KK. So the start was not that bad and still not tilting. (When i played my normal game it would have tilted me somehow for sure. But we will lose it every 5th times. That's what i try to implement into my head and get used to accept this. )

Regulars are the new fishes (one of my poker buddy told in the past), they just cannot fold and always suspect a bluff. Especially when i've got a crazy image. That's why the only way to go is to valeutown them.

Some interesting hands from today:

1. Fish. If he raises at any point I'm down with the hand. Without 2p im checkfolding the river.

3. Stationy reg. River is not the best card as i could do this with AK. I was hesitating to overshoving or potting the river again, but got a lot of folds several times, so did a try to bet smaller. Good example that not much FE at the micros. It's quite hazardous to do this with total air. As they sometimes find a call. Unfortunately not this time

5. The min3bets are wonderful IP. First of all it's quite fishy. When i got these min3bets in the past i just played fitnfold. I hated them as it was difficult to know it's air or the nuts from the fish. It was very difficult to play OOP against this. The advantage is that it makes the fishy image and it's cheap. We can keep villain's range the widest. We've got enough fold equity, too. When they have a monster they will 4b and we can fold without any hesitation. When they just call, their range is weak. Nobody will flat call with a monster here.

Villain here is 17/15. His big donk just doesn't make any sense. With Ax he would have just checkcalled here to get some bluffs from me and reach showdown. So his donk was only for fold equity. On the river i made a mistake not making a thin valuebet, but i just chose the safer route and wanted to avoid some random Ax hands. But true fishes are a champion to make thin valuebets here.

6. This was crazy. But. PFR is a huge nit, 13/7. His calling range is stronger broadways and pocket pairs. Overcaller is an overly aggro TAG with really high 3b percentage. I would have expected him squeezing with any strong hand. I expect them playing fitnfold here. And the dead money is nice. I was potting to avoid any random calls with the broadways and represent a monster here. Hazardous i know

Vol. 2.

The yesterday small fun turned into a project and i'm really excited about it. I'll work on this seeing how it goes and will see if it's worth continuing. The start was quite promising, but it's like everything in poker. It's the trick that it seems to be good at the beginning and then the painful fall can come. So I'll be cautious.

So, I'm working on perfecting my strategy as far as i can. I'm continously making new lines during play when i see the chance. I'm building up a crazy image and there are trial and errors of course. On my side i could skip tilt as i have quite easy decisions. I tilted some players and there are times when tables are emptying... I'm neglecting variance as there are no huge AIs, people are just calling me due to my image. Preflop i'm avoiding the big variance AIs. My WWSF is around 50% so far. It's a big improvement for me, previously it was around 38%!!!

The good thing is that i can expect a lot of actions to my big hands. But still working to get more as i have more FE now in those spots than needed. Furthermore i will study the range manipulation with bet sizes.

5. 15/10 It's a very good example. The board is quite wet. So i bet for max value against draws. Actually we could do this with top pair type hand. People will raise only with the nuts. When they just call these large bets their range is not that difficult to recognize. The tricky part is the river when a draw completes. But this hand shows even the nittiest regs are huge stations. Here im checking the river to get some bluffs from the draws.

The maniac route

After having finished my daily sessions at NL25 i decided to try out the other side. I needed some fun, wanted to know the other side of the coin. For this, i stepped down to NL10 and played as no tomorrow.

I tried out such things what i always was scared to do. To try lines i was always feared when i met with a maniac. It was such a fun. I played like 33/30 with 11% 3b and with a high WWSF (which is not the case at my regular style). I wanted to see the limits i can reach. I seemed like a maniac fish probably. Min3betted in position a lot, overbetted regularly and similar. Overbetted with the goods, overbetted with trash. There are pros and cons of course and I made several mistakes.

There is a lot of FE, but at some point people will look you up lightly. That's the interesting part, when you could have trash, good hand or the nuts. You should have a read about their play, it's crucial and i'm sure it makes the difference from badaggro fishes. When you got raised pre or post it's a very easy fold due to our image. i didn't have such easy folds. You won't get bluff raises. Regulars played fitnfold, i bluffed here a lot. Against fish it's the same play. Valuebet them all day long. Never bluff. Fish will call even the overbets with the draws, weak pairs. I made mistakes here as i wanted to see i can bluff them. Was just light on fire.

So it was a good fun at first. I enjoyed playing like this and honestly it was a long time ago i felt like this during my regular grind. Definitely was an interesting route. I think it was not the last day.

Some hands

1. Nit, 12/9. I checked the river to induce some bluffs

Back

After my latest bitter post in the middle of a sick period I'm back to my little blog. First of all, would like to say a big THANKS for the DC community for the supporting words, advices i got to my posts in the forums after my bad stretch (thanks Ass, SCS, Doc, Identifier and the others) It was really a big help.

And i got a big help from Tack in the background, i cannot find words about his generosity with reviewing my play. He is a true professional and he has spotted a lot of leaks in my game.

After the hit i've made some days off from poker. I needed this break to regenerate, to cool down and to review my game. To find the leaks i have and to identify where i failed. I had to look into myself and very sincerely admit to myself where i have a leak.

To be honest i failed at a lot of things and don't want to go into details about it. But the biggest one is TILT. And it's the basis of everything, of any bad decisiosn, even of the smaller ones. I wanted to believe that my tilt is handled, but it's not. When I was on the wrong side of the variance i neglected the fact how serious it could be. I haven't used a stop-loss after a bad sretch. Fishy games tilted me very much. I didn't make huge mistakes there, but after one point i went mad about the fishes. That's the truth. And then I started tilting.

As said fishy games are tilting me hard. Ongame is a nice place for this. So I decided to finally leave Ongame network. You will wonder why the heck, but i know it's the best decision i can do now. After the break i played some sessions, but i was fed up with the games and the poor game selection during the day.

In the last days I've made my homework where to continue and  tried, checked different softwares, networks, traffics. Read a lot of threads, advices about the different networks. Finally decided about continuing at Stars due to the biggest traffic, software etc. And will do my best to learn winning there. Will learn even more. I will follow my aggro step-up strategy, now at NL25.

The start was quite promising:

Break

Today had the worst day in my poker career. Busted my monthly profit in one day, no matter what site i played. I just feel frustration, anger and that i haven't learned anything. Cannot accept that idiots are sucking out on me. Still. I know there is the problem with me. Now suspend my blog and my activity on the forums. GL everybody

Some change

Finally i've decided about some change concerning the room i will play. I was working hard on my NL50 project, but failed twice. With a cool head i've analyzed the situation in order that i could be honest with myself. Obviously i was running bad and big part of my losses are these bad beats. But i also played bad, spewed lot of money with silly AIs.

In my latest post i sort of whined about the state of the games at NL50. Reached to a point that i hated sitting down to the tables at NL50. As i play mostly during the day GMT, the tables are filled up with superaggro better-worse LAGs and at some point it either tilted me or nitted me up too much. The recent changes from 5max to 6max was also terrible to the games imo. The software has been upgraded, but still couldn't play more than 4 tables due to this. Even at 4 tables there are still some freeze issues. So at the moment i put halt Ongame and went to Stars.

I'm after some sessions at NL25 on Stars and games are quite different, it's much more on the passive side. Which means that i'm much more on the aggressive side comparing to Ongame. I felt so good there now, playing 6 tables, with a good software, with some BI up and soon will attack NL50 there. And will reevaluate. Like on the turn after a flop min CR.

And some nonpoker. Photography is a big hobby of mine and these two cameras are my objective for the near future i want to achieve through poker:

NL30 vs NL50

So i have to step down the 2nd time to NL30. And now I'm totally unsure about my game. Everything started with the new 6 max tables at Ongame instead of the 5max. I got used to the 5max and i was really playing good. Don't know still the reason, but since then i'm in open falling.

And there is a big gap between the two levels. NL30 is much calmer, not so aggressive and you should be really careful about not making mistakes. NL50 is overly aggressive and huge levelling war is going on preflop. There are overly aggro regs like 28/25 with 10%+ 3b, 10%+ 4b and often i even don't see a flop. And i just suck in these games. They call 3bets with a superwide range etc. If i 3b it's a good chance that i get a 4b. So maybe i should be play much tighter or don't know.

Hero have mixed feelings. Will cont.

Steamed

Just another blog post from a steamed reg. Dont worry i won't put here any hand histories. But i have to write it off, it's easier.

I was running pretty good at my NL50 project, After one unsuccesfull start with stepping back to NL30 i could go ahead, my second attempt was pretty good and was very close to reach NL100. Until today. I was crushed. I didn't have tilt issues, haven't tilted a single AI. But at the end i felt myself totally crushed, that all the bad plays have been rewarded. All of them. All the regfishes got their gin cards.

Played 1,5k hands with 5BI down. It's gross for me. Lost 5 AI w 70-80% EV. Having set of Aces in a 3b pot vs FD? Another set vs FD on a turn AI? I could continue. Not mentioning the only flip today. And when all the fish rivered me with their hopeless draws in medium pots.

One hand totally screwed my mind. Aggro reg 3bets me from BTN, I'm CO. I have AK and 4bet. He calls. Monotone board w K. We go AI. He has 8Ts w a flush. WTF? Of course he knew. I was a stranger for him, no reads, small stats as i play on a new ongame skin. One AI I was not ahead

The good thing that i haven't tilted and put the money as a fav at all of them. I'm aware of variance. Don't have a problem with it. I've got a problem that it happens at the same time and it's really difficult to handle mentally. I should be in a clear profit and now i should rebuild myself.

Better days for you guys

Switching limits

Who is reading my blog knows that I'm following an aggro stepping up strategy (I've first read about this stuff from Girah). It means that I'm giving a shot to one limit higher when reach 30 BI at my current limit. At the new limit i'm using a 2 BI stop-loss. I'm very strict with this rule as it's the basics of this strategy and it's not an ego thing. I'll step back immediately, no matter that i had a bad beat or cooler or i just played badly. Then i'm grinding it up again and attacking the new limit as much as needed.

Now, I've successfully finished NL20, NL30 and made the first attacks at NL50. I could take in NL20 after 2 or 3 attempts, NL30 was relatively easy, there was no need to step back. Now, I've been rebounded from NL50 easily after the first try, but it's okay. I've already grinded back the needed BR at NL30 and I'm up after the 2nd attempt at NL50.

The big thing about this strategy is that it won't tilt the hell out of me. Mentally I've prepared myself for the possible suckouts at the beginning and it helped. Every limit seems to be more aggro after the previous one, but actually the situations are the same. Only the money is bigger. And playing at a bigger limit is making my decisions more deliberate. Not speaking about the fact, that due to this strategy today i'm fairly get used to play on a new, higher limit. Without any fear. Which seemed so farewell in the past when i played on NL10 for a long time. I'm sure that I'll have tough times in the future, the start at NL50 was pretty rough. But these things will only train ourselves.
