"away message"

Hi, everyone!

So, yeah. Not much to report lately. I've barely played! Taking a bit of time to rest after my shot at 50NL went very badly. Less than 5K hands have played since my previous post. I've thrown in a few sit n gos with good results and might explore that, but I don't plan to play much this month.

My free time has been focused on a few other really cool things. First, there's school as always. Being the end of the year, everyone at my school is scrambling to see their patients and finish up these things called test cases (where we have to do a certain procedure on a person and get graded for it). The seniors are taking clinical boards and getting ready to graduate; my class is just trying to survive.

Then, there's general home life. I'm a week and a day from moving into a small studio located near my school in Pacific Heights (San Francisco). Some shopping is about to occur for things like kitchen appliances (Ikea?), coffee tables / book shelves (Ikea?), rugs and lights (Ikea?), and a TV (not Ikea). It's a welcome change, but I'll definitely miss living with my roommate and the building I'm in.

Recently I've done something that I waited a long time to be able to do: get back into bowling. Between college and dental school I played in three leagues and practiced at least twice a week on the side for a whole year and a half, and I loved it. Given that I could never carry that kind of commitment again, I'm eternally thankful to have the chance to play just one league now. I joined a summer program at Serra Bowl in Daly City, CA with three friends. After two weeks, I can say that it's at least a tie for the most fun I've ever had. I've bowled well, we've had tons of laughs (and beers), and I really love my team. Cheers, guys, if you're reading this. I'm thrilled to be playing again.

Also -- vid games! I took a slice of my bankroll and used it to buy a PS3. While I was about three years behind on this boat, I still thought it would be a cool investment. They've got a lot of great games that Wii could never support, and the DVD/BluRay inclusion will be great for movies at my new place.

I've been thinking about going to Vegas during one of the DeucesCracked meetup events (bowling!!!!), but it's still very tentative. I don't have travel plans and I don't really know anyone. However, I'm sure it'd be fun.

By my best guess, I'm going to take it easy on the game of P for the next three or four weeks until my school year ends, and then I'll pick up full swing with some MSOP events on Full Tilt and the usual cash grind. In the meantime, I'm listening to the Deuce Plays podcast daily (plenty of back episodes) and trying to grab two videos a week from the Coaching Tree, Coaching Kristy, and Busto to Robusto series.
