Playing a freeroll tonight
I’m signed up for an invite only $500 freeroll tonight on PKR.com, should be a fun break from the cash game grind. I’m quite pleased with how much I have learned about Poker since joining Deuces Cracked, and I’m hoping my better understanding of ranges and equity will help me go deep tonight.
I haven’t put a lot of time into MTT strategy, but I have a much better understanding of ICM now that I did this time last year, in as much as I have some knowledge of it. Thanks Vandweller.
I was aware that there was a push/fold point in tournament play, and that the M theory affected how you should play, but never really had the basic poker game to back it up. consequently I used to miss many value spots and rely on catching cards at the right time to double up and survive past the bubble.
Tonights little donkament will make an interesting change from the ring games. I’ve found myself playing two tables recently instead of four.
I’m not actually sure if it’s because I’m trying to play more intelligently, or just less frantically. I definately couldn’t say I was more focussed and alert today though, I played two tables of 2NL just now because the available 5NL tables didn’t look so good.
For the first 10 minutes I was still betting .17c as if it was a 5NL table!
No wonder I couldn’t get any action rasing 8.5x the big blind.

Pfft 5 minutes, literally!
AKo middle position, call a raise from unknown UTG. Co calls behind.
Monotone low flop gives me the nut flush draw, I call a 3/4 pot C-bet CO calls behind to build a big pot. I get my chips in when and an Ace comes on the turn.
UTG had flopped the 2nd nut flush with KQs. NH WP. I'll get me coat.
