The End.
Took me a little longer than I would have liked, but today I finally typed FADE OUT. Danced around the ending for a bit but today it all spilled forth. Total length: 80 pages.
boom. :D
So the plan (now) is to print it out and place it somewhere far from sight for awhile. Eventually I'll get cracking on reworking everything that doesn't work. Which is a lot. I think I might attempt to write the 2nd draft longhand, something I've never done before...
Now the question is... what next? What do I write tomorrow? Think I'll go back to TalkTheTalk and work on some dialogue writing exercises for a bit. Was also thinking about inventing my own exercise where I try to write scenes and stories to specific music or playlists... attempt to capture the emotion and rhythm of the music. That could be pretty instructive, I'll give that a shot. As for the next major piece of work... do I rewrite this? TV pilot? Spec script? Play? Another feature? A game?
WHAT NOW DESTINY?!
A big TY to everyone who cheered me on or just read these posts. Could not have gotten here without you. 4 REALZIES. Let this blog be a testament to what you can do when you make your goal public and chug along at it, just a little each day. It takes a ton of work to get really good at something, but if you enjoy doing it, and you want to be the person who is really good at that thing... I believe you owe it to yourself to do that thing. Be the best version of yourself you can. Life is too short.
Happy New Year all.

Good job, man! I'd definitely be interested in reading it if you ever make it public, but I COMPLETELY understand if you don't. I have a whole bunch of short stories that I don't want read, I just needed to write them.
Don't know much about writing movies but I have watched one before!

Congrats on finishing!
Next up you should write a 180 page epic set in the civil war imo

@Zialum ty! i'd make it public if/when i think it's good enough to be a story worth people's time, but for now its just a monkey i wanted off my back. maybe one day down the line i'll post a draft here.
@QED thx man. check out the script for QT's next movie Django Unchained... it's like 180 page pre-civil war slave revenge epic!

I'd feel dirty if I read the script for Django Unchained before I saw the film. Say no to spoilers!
Looking forward to it even if I thought his last film was a bit meh.

i didn't feel dirty until you wrote that! i haven't seen IB since it came out, what didn't you like about it? christoph waltz was great, i really enjoyed a few scenes (the tense one downstairs in the bar especially) but the rest of my memories are kind of hazy.

Not enough Basterds for me. Christopher Waltz was so awesome I was fine with it, but I thought the movie theatre owner plot line ran on too long. I still thought the movie was great though. Just wanted more of Brad Pitt talking.

IB just felt like a bit of a muddle from start to finish to me. There were some cool sequences in it but there were also those that felt really self indulgent (too much of people sitting around talking about films). I was expecting the Tarantino version of the WW2 films I grew up watching and that wasn't really what we got which didn't help matters either.
