What’s Up Degens?

Clipse – We Got It For Cheap – I think I put this one in an earlier blog, but regardless if you haven’t gotten it yet you need to. The beat is amazing!

Wu Tang – Hellz Wind Staff – This is definitely one of my favorite Wu songs ever. If you don’t like this song, then you probably don’t like east coast rap, or any kind of hip-hop for that matter. The lyrics are unreal!

Fabolous – Gotta Be Thug- I pretty much hate F-A-B-O now, but he was pretty sick back in the day. Ghetto Fabolous was in my cd player for like six months straight.

It’s kind of a bummer that it’s been awhile since I posted something, but I have several good excuses..

1. I’ve had relatives or friends visiting for basically the last three weeks straight. The combination of tons of friends, warm weather, hot chicks, and a surplus of booze has made the last few weeks a little blurry. Last weekend was my friends bachelor party, which was obviously pretty amazing. We went to the Rio for dinner and ate at this restaurant called Gaylords. It’s an Indian restaurant that’s not tooooo expensive by Vegas Casino standards, but literally serves the best food you’ve ever eaten in your life. Ok maybe not, but definitely the best Indian food you’ve ever had. I’ve already been back twice since then just because it was literally that good. If anybody is out here this summer, you really have to go and check it out. It was so good, that when I rolled out of bed hung over the next morning, the first words I said to my roommate were “I wish they made mouthpieces that tasted like that Chicken Tiki Marsala we had at Gaylords last night”. Un fucking real!!

Afterwards we went to Saphire (Vegas degens will know what this is). It was pretty fun I suppose, but I’m really not a big fan of strip clubs. For a bachelor party though, I’ll definitely make an exception.

2. The weather has been unbelievable! I’ve been lucky enough to get out and play a few rounds of golf, and fortunately I’ve been hitting it much better than I thought I would’ve. I haven’t swung a club since I was in Santa Cruz last October, so it’s nice to know that I can take some time off and not shoot horribly after a few months. Bring on the summer Golf degenning!

On Sunday, me and a few other dudes who play cards around here (benba and Chances Cards on FTP) went to the new pool party at Aria called liquid. It was really sick, and it ended up being a pretty hilarious adventure. My roommate Tyson has pretty ridic game with chicks, but he’s always bragging about it. So before we showed up, Chance and Ben decided to tell these chicks in the cabana next to us about how Ty thinks his game is the shit. So when he showed up and tried to talk to them, they just fucked with him the whole time and acted like complete bitches, and basically just shot him down as hard as possible the entire day. He still doesn’t know they told him, haha.

Also, this group of chicks from Scottsdale saw us clowning from across the pool, and apparently thought we were sexy so they bought us shots. As we go over there, we realize that basically all of them are nasty with the exception of one who’s pretty fine. Regardless, I’m talking to the nasty one for probably 90 seconds and this is how the conversation goes:
Me: So what’re you guys up for doing while you’re here in LV?
Trout#1: On the plane here, I decided I have only four goals.
Me: Oh ya? What are they (knowing exactly where this is going in my mind..)
Trout#1: 1. Spend a shitload of money.
2. Get fucked up and make some bad decisions.
3. Give a lapdance to a guy (she mentions how she gave a lapdance to a chick the previous night, so that doesn’t count).
4. Make out with a guy.

I’m like oh man, I know where this is going. Ugly chicks always like me for some reason, and this time was no different. After a few more drinks, somehow I ended up in a chair with her giving me the nastiest lap dance of my life… All of it on video while my friends are laughing their asses off, of course. What happens in Vegas… Gets recorded and posted on facebook I guess.

Also, my ex-gf and her friends came into town a couple of weeks ago. Awkwardddd, but I hooked them up with a discounted room at Encore so we all went to XS and shit. Here’s a pic of me and the ex.

3. School shit.. I’ve somehow managed to keep B’s, which is unbelievable for the amount of partying and non-school stuff I’ve done up to this point. imo it kind of invalidates getting an MBA in the first place if it’s this easy to pass the classes. Regardless, I’m not complaining!

4. Working out. I’ve managed to get pretty strong since I moved here. I reached a personal best on Incline last week when I did 90lb dumbells on Incline Press 8 times, so I’m pretty happy about that. I’m working on increasing my pull ups now, because my back is generally the weakest part of my body.

So ya, there’s just been a ton of stuff going on lately, so poker has kind of taken a back seat for awhile, and probably will for about the next month. I’ve decided to move back to Denver after my lease is up here, so I suppose that’s kind of noteworthy. Anyone who reads this blog knows how much I love living in the desert, but it’s become pretty obvious that it’s not the healthiest environment for me and that reaching any of my long-term goals is extremely unlikely to happen here.

For the poker stuff, here’s a few hands I have actually played since last time. I’ve been running pretty terribly it seems, so most of these are losers I think. I’d include the winners but they were mostly standard, and I haven’t played much so there’s nothing too exciting.

Somehow people have gotten really good at flopping gin against me in 3 and 4 bet pots. I’d love to read the book that teaches you how to do that. Villain is very aggro, so I think the 3b is standard since my hand plays better HU than if I flat and get several callers.
