Back to the grind.
Both in poker and in fitness.
Australia really threw me for a loop, physically, and I clearly drank way too much and enjoyed life. Not such a bad thing but I’ve put back on a few pounds since my peak fitness when I ran the marathon. Fortunately that time off also helped with my ITBS and other injuries so I feel pretty damned good now, ready to return to marathoning form.
Cycling season is also starting up here. I’m training for a 206 mile single-day bike ride (last time I did it was 2006) called the STP (Seattle to Portland) which is a ton of fun, but requires a lot of training. I’ve basically got 0 free weekends from now until August or so. I’d like to run a marathon or two during that span as well, so I’m slowly increasing miles for running while adding on the miles on the bike. I just picked up a new wheelset for my bike – nothing fancy by cyclist standards but a nice upgrade for me – Rol Wheel’s Race SL. They should get here on Thursday and I’m looking forward to slapping on a new Ultegra cassette so I have a backup wheelset for the trainer and seeing how they climb.
So yeah. That’s fitness. Poker-wise, I played a TON of hands yesterday (a little over 4k) at $50 rush PLO. Most of the playing I’m doing is to get a better feel for the game which I hope to play a fair amount in Vegas during the WSOP. I’m feeling pretty comfortable in the games though lately I’ve been playing looser and looser, probably playing too aggressively in some marginal spots and increasing my variance needlessly.
On the Deuces front, we let our latest development out into the wild today, and have a few more improvements slated for blogs and forums soon. I’m pretty excited about some of the things we have planned over the next few months. More on that soon, though.

Do you find there to be more variance than usual with rush plo?
Also, I always enjoy reading your blogs. They are fun and light hearted. A good read imo
