Just got the FTP mobile security key for iPhone
Figured since I’m playing a bit of poker again it would be nice to have a slightly more secure account setup. The process was pretty easy and the price was reasonable (I exchanged medals for it). From what I’ve heard there are still some social engineering methods that may allow people to disable the key on your account, but if you’ve done a bit of work on that end you should be reasonably ok. Tried it once, was relatively simple (could have been better, but not bad for an iPhone app). Reasonably impressed overall, though that’s probably largely because I’ve never had high expectations for FTP when it comes to enabling security.

Correct me if Im wrong. But aren't you able to just email FTP and say you lost it and they will remove it from being a requirment for logging in? If so that kind of defeats the purpose doesnt it?
Maybe I misunderstood something I read before because Im ridding the short bus when it comes to IT issues.

I've heard rumors similar to that, but that you need to answer the security question first.
My security question is a random text string, so that's not something that I'm prone to social engineering on -- so even if that is true (I haven't seen it confirmed) I should be fine.

It actually requires a little more then just that now. You have to send in a photo copy of your ID, proof of your address, etc. Apparently you can have multiple key's tied to your account as well. I ordered 2 (hardware keys) and just got them yesterday. I plan on activating them both and putting on in a safe place in case I lose the other.

So ... Entity, say you were to come up with a random string. What random string might you like? If you can't think of a good one, perhaps one you've previously used?
