Free Coaching

Hey guys,

I've decided to try coaching and I'll be taking one student to see how things go. I won't be charging anything because I have limited experience coaching. I will guarantee at least 3 free lessons and we'll take it from there.

I will be coaching 6max or headsup, up to 50NL. I play 200 and 400NL myself, you can check out my 6max or headsup results for this year or PTR, although the latter is far from accurate and is missing a lot of hands.

I ask from you that you:

  • are serious about improving your poker game
  • are willing to experiment with your game and try out new things
  • can put in at least 2 hours of serious study in per week
  • have a mic, skype, HEM and mikogo/teamviewer
  • can speak English

I will not be doing sweat sessions because I don't think they're particularly useful. What I do recommend is video reviews and hand history discussion. Video reviews allow us to freeze time and talk about various permutations in the hand. What would you do with a different hand? What do you think villain thinks of you? How does this influence our perceived range? Are there any better lines that we can take with our hand? It's questions and topics like these that will improve your thought process in various spots and allow us to improve your game to the point where you feel confident enough to move up.

If you're interested, shoot me a PM or fill in the survey and tell me why I should pick you. I will be taking a maximum of 20 applications. After that I'll pick one student and start coaching. Or sooner.

GL!

Hello World!

Hello and howdy to my new readers and future fanboys! I am an idiot from Northern Europe and this is where I will be ranting, cheering and musing about all things poker. I will post hands, come up with theory, ramble, discuss and blab away. This is my first post here and I will try to keep a regular habit of posting hands that have either some strategic or entertainment value.

In other news, the PPA guys recently had a hearing in front of congress. For all you US based whippersnappers, 2+2 has a thread on the subject.

Also, John Stossel did a piece on it recently, featuring none other than Andy Superbloch!

But after dismounting our political unicorn, let's actually do something productive and check out a sweet 400NL hand I recently played!

Hero (SB): $424.00
BB: $102.00
UTG: $788.00
MP: $464.00
CO: $452.00
BTN: $940.00

Pre Flop: ($6.00) Hero is SB with Q of hearts K of spades
1 fold, MP raises to $12, 2 folds, Hero calls $10, 1 fold

Flop: ($28.00) 6 of hearts 6 of clubs K  of clubs(2 players)

Hero checks, MP bets $18.00, Hero raises to $56, MP calls $38

Turn: ($140.00) 8 of spades (2 players)
Hero bets $96.00, MP calls $96

River: ($332.00) T of spades (2 players)
Hero bets $260.00, MP calls $260

Final Pot: $852.00
Hero shows Q of hearts K of spades
UTG shows Q of diamonds A of diamonds
Hero wins $849.00
(Rake: $3.00)

of hearts

In summary, if there are a lot of bluffs in your perceived range, you're playing loose and you don't rep a whole lot on a board and you're also not expected to checkraise a K, it's good to take this line for value, where you are going to get bluffcatched upon a lot. Gotta figure out which level they're on and then go one higher!

That's it for my first post peeps!

GN & GL.
