perplexing hand
Not everyday I learn something new at stud, so this was cool...
Game is tough with what seems to be two good players in the pot with me.
The hand went like this... After I was perplexed as to why seat capped 4th if he paired, as it seems like that's the only hand that makes sense in which he would fold the river. As if he paired his 8 he would call with trips, and if he had two pair it would be a stretch to do what he did on 4th then fold aces up on 7th. So I think his range definitely has a 3 in the hole. so why would he cap 4th with two low cards and a low pair when he knows hes not isoing me ever!? First here's the hand. What would you do on 4th in villains spot if he did in fact pair his 3?

Well
It turns out even if he paired his 3 his equity is still better than ours 3 ways! TBH i think its pretty sick to have 36% 3 ways on 4th so good cap by him as it works multiple ways. He in fact has the best equity, and also reps a very strong range building fold equity. NH

Note that his equity edge doesn't manifest if he had dead cards on 3rd, and that making by this play, whilst giving him a small equity edge, it does allow you hand read more effectively the times that he doesn't jam.

I feel like you should fold on 4th when facing 2 cold. Your hand is transparent and the dude with the J (who very reasonably could have slowplayed 3rd with JJJ or AAJ) is pouring bets into the pot 3 ways. You're getting yourself into a very expensive pot with a comparatively marginal high hand and ~0 low.

I agree DJ, problem was I convinced myself that the jack was doing this with a high flush draw pushing his high hand, and tricked me. Most people won't cap 4th here with JJJ and will wait till 5th, and with AA he should have 2 bet me pre.
