Things I learned from JBALLER88

I've just got through around 6 hours of Jballer88 sweat videos on 200NL FTP 6max. The videos were very good.

I got alot of notes on his videos. one thing that really stood out was that he always very calm and composed in all spots, took his time to make decisions, think about table dynamics, his image at the table, villains state of mind and how this affected the play of the hand before he started to think about villains ranges. His attitude was mainly indifference - I want to strive for this mindset every time I play. Total indifference to the outcome of the actual hand. More about how to maximize value and fold equity and getting it in good vs villains range and having lots of good equity when called as well as percieving future actions on later streets before the cards drop.

Heres my notes:

What I learned from Jballer88 aka. the SSNL Crusher
  • Avoid playing big pots with marginal hands OOP
  • Think about villains likely calling range when you are betting
  • More money behind when in position is always good
  • open alot of buttons until you find a reason not too
  • 3bet in position vs people playing straight forward
  • Value range OOP
  • Read weakness as weakness and exploit it
  • On the turn, stop and think about what villains stack size is - do you wana get it in? think about how you can achieve your desired result - remember, its OK to check fold!
  • Process orientated  - every hand same routine; his range, your percieved range, the board, position, how big a pot you want play
  • Keep the fish in the pot at all times, don't push them out
  • Consider your image at the table last few pots
  • Avoid marginal spots towards the end of your session, marginal plays (3bet light/4bewt light) are better at the start of session in order to create table dynaamic
  • have a feel for how villain will respond to 3bets before you 3bet
  • play a comfortable amount of tables
  • I think he thinks therefore I..
  • does villain fold to 3bets alot? if so, 3bet often and early with trash and create dynamic
  • villain a good player? fold marginal hands if u feel u will get into tough spots
  • leading range OOP for villains? take notes
  • Think about players left behind to act in the hand
  • think about how often % a play has to work for it to show an immediate profit
  • is this a good board to barrel? are the cards that come going to be good for our range or his?
  • can we make him fold a better hand, can we get value from worse
  • think about your recent history and table image in current hand
  • believe them
  • because he .... on the ..... his range is mostly..
  • planning what you are going to do on the next street before it hits
  • attitude "oh well i guess he has this so.." Laissez-faire
  • dynamics, dynamics, dynamics
  • think about actual equity when getting it in with a pair+fd or combo draw, not just vs overpair
  • dont cbet alot in multiway pots if you have terrible equity if called
  • do we expect to fold out alot of hands on this board texture
  • big hands = big equity vs range = big pots
Kaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaap

Now the next stage of learning is to review the yin and yang series by inavacum as well as begin reading SSNL which has been sat on my computer collecting virtual dust for way way way too long!

Peace
