Many of you who read this probably don’t know me, I was a former DC coach way back when. I’ve admittedly not paid any attention to the poker world the last 3 or so years. I couldn’t tell you who the reigning WSOP champion is or who the best cash player in the world is. I have very little idea of what the poker landscape looks like and as usual I hope everyone on DC is improving and evolving. My life has changed a lot since my last blog post (3 years ago!) and I’ll get to that in a bit.
But first, how did I get back here? It all goes back to July 3rd 2016. I was on my twitter looking for Kevin Durant news, if you remember this was when he was in the Hamptons for July 4th weekend being and had his meeting with the Celtics. I then saw it (and don’t feel like digging it up) but it was a fake adrian wojnarowski account (NBA Writer) that said, Kevin Durant signs with the Celtics. While I don’t play poker anymore, I didn’t lose all my trait to try and exploit every edge possible. So what did I do? I decided to go ahead and place a bet on them to win the NBA championship at +1500. Unfortunately, I got fake newsd in a topic completely unrelated to politics.
Anyways, writing it off as an accident I’m obviously a big Celtics fan this year. So why is that significant tonight? They are now tied for the lead in the East with the Cavs. I won’t get into the significance of that but I couldn’t sleep tonight and saw the standings. It led me to watch a Brad Stevens press conference and I remembered how I talked about about Brad Stevens in one of my video series (I believe it was down on the farm). I tried to find it but no longer have access to my videos but jumped back into the blog section and started to type. (I’ve also gone down a deep Brad Stevens rabbit hole and ordered a book that he recommends.)
Much has happened to me personally over the last few years that’s significant, but for the sake of time I wanted to talk about where I’m going to go with this blog. Not much will change, it will be incredibly random with spurts of gambling mixed in, however instead of poker I’ll be discussing Daily Fantasy Sports. Its been a hobby of mine the last 2 years with varying degrees of success. My biggest struggle so far has been with the mental side of it and I need some place to empty my thoughts and move forward as this blog was huge for me back in the day and I’m curious if it can serve the same purpose for me all these years later. It’s hard to believe black friday was 6 years ago.
I hope this blog will be helpful for some and enjoyable for others. It’s something I’ve missed doing and I’ll try hosting here for a while. It’s gotta be more productive than scrolling through twitter right?
