Moneytrain Wrap Up

So I'm recording the final episode of Moneytrain tonight.  Tis bittersweet as I am greatly looking forward to taking a mini-break from poker, but I also enjoyed the experience and learned a great deal.  My thanks go out to jk3a first and foremost for his teachings and his patience.  I also want to thank everyone who watched the series and wished me GL along the way.  It is greatly appreciated and helps out a lot during those rough periods (like how I started the series).  I feel like jk3a really helped me not only find a few leaks, but also how to fix them.  As expected, I'm still working on them, but I've never felt better about my game.  I feel extremely comfortable sitting at 200NL and once my bankroll is ready, I hope to take some 400NL shots.

Speaking of which, I wish I could have gotten my bankroll to the point where I was taking shots by the end of the series, but alas my roll was going in the wrong direction during the first part.  I am happy to report that things are going much better now though :)  (plz no jinx for saying so)  I had a massive downswing to start the year which resulted in being down ~$4500 at one point.  That may or may not sound like a lot to you, but for a 100NL player who dabbled in 200NL, it was huge to me.  However, I studied and worked my butt off, and just kept playing.  As a result, I'm EXTREMELY happy to say that I'm now UP on the year!  Yes, that's right!  In the green!  (I don't like how red/black are opposites, they both seem negative to me so I use green.)  I feel like I'm playing my best poker nowadays and see GREEN pastures in my future :)  Here is my graph so far this year.  On my way back!  With rakeback/bonuses, I'm currently up ~$1k which is a huge relief after how things started!

So in conclusion, I want to say thanks to everyone involved, especially jk3a.  I learned a great deal and hope to keep learning.  I also hope to pass along my knowledge and start coaching again.  My apologies to those who wanted to see some 400NL action, but I tried my best.  The series seems to be very well-received so who knows, maybe we'll make a sequel once I'm a bit closer to my $12k goal :)  That is ultimately up to you guys so let your voices be heard if you want more!

Nice recovery.

58k hands in this year is not a lot.
Are you a part time player or did you take a long break during the downswing?

I have a full-time career, a girlfriend, a dog, I exercise, play sports, and even manage to squeeze in some rock climbing and Call of Duty on occasion. And of course some Tecmo Super Bowl :) So yes, I am by far a part-time player and 58k hands in 6 months-ish is a HUGE number for me. But I do realize that it is not much by full-time player standards. On the plus side, I'm pretty sure I make more than most grinders. On the negative side, they don't have to go to work :) I'm sure that was a much longer answer than you wanted.

Watched up to episode 5 so far, I am enjoying it. I think you are a good smart student and bring up good questions. The last 2 eps arent as good as the earlier ones. What have you learned most from getting all this coaching? How many hours off camera are you receiving or is all the coaching pretty much on tape.

Looking forward to watch the rest, good luck.

There were a couple of hours of off-camera coaching, but mainly all of it was recorded. I'd say the biggest thing I have learned is what my leaks were and how to fix them. I had no idea my W$SD% was so low in comparison to good players, so that has helped me a great deal. Also, just developing my thought process better/quicker and assigning ranges while playing has been immensely helpful. It was amazing how many times I didn't have a good reason for my actions, but I'm now forcing myself to do so.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it!
