a work of art
Stunning video.
Great addon to the book.
I really liked it alot of it reminded me of the book. I stole the frog avatar before someone else does ![]()
Loved the video.
Very good, some of it reminded me of the changes I have personally seen in the UK as regard to live poker over the years.
Years ago, around the start of internet poker, I would go and play tournaments at my local casino. Everyone was very friendly, if you made some sort of etiquette error they would laugh and joke with you about it, all nice stuff and you felt like you wanted to have another try next week, a call of "good poker!" and a hearty slap on the back as you left the table.
These guys were all normal everyday people, all doing the same thing as me. Or so I thought! What I learned years later is that my local casino was regarded by many as the main poker venue in the UK, and it was not unusual for Devilfish himself to sit playing there.
These days, if I bother going it is totally different. Everyone moaning and complaining. Most people walk out thinking why did I even bother? The result is live poker in that place is nothing compared to what it was, although I suppose at least the final tables come to me more often. It was just more fun to lose to a nice bunch of blokes than it is to win against shouting moaners and complainers that have nothing nice to say to each other.
Pure and simple, complaining and arguments wreck the game over the long term.
Damn! I just realised, I am complaining lol!
this is so valuable and I can't express how excited I am for the whole series
I love DC and I love Tommy moar of this stuff. I can say now Iam doing good things to people by playing daoistic poker. ,)
This video made me happy
Great stuff
Good stuff. The first 20min were quiet slow but if u keep watching there are some fine advice/ideas later on.
I think we need a new word for donk-bet. "Leading into the raiser" is too long. And "donk" is a judging/negative word like Tommy says. Could someone with English skillz please figure something out?
Bah! How am I ever supposed to find time actually playing poker when you guys keep putting out these great videos! ![]()
Awesome series! Can't wait to watch the rest! =)

I'd like to add to this, that if you're telling yourself you're better than someone else, and then you get unlucky when playing, you'll be disappointed much more than if you think something along the lines of "I rate to be the favorite if I play in this game at this moment". So it's actually in more ways useful to think about it differently.
This is specifically the case for tournament poker, I mean how often have people sat at a final table knowing they were by far the best player (that being true or not is not even that relevant) and ending up in 9th or 8th place because they got unlucky...
Great video so far, DC just keeps covering more and more areas which are very important!
awesome..Is it possible in some easy way possible to convert this so i can listen to it as a podcast? I have only an old classic ipod
Best video series of this year!
Waited so long for this. Really solid first video. Very calming. PUT THE REST OF THE SERIES UP NOW!!!

This triggered a memory from when I used to play cricket. At the age of 14-15 or so I played at a pretty high level but I had a bad-ish season by my standards, felt something may have been a little wrong, which of course only makes things worse when you overthink it.
So I went on a coaching course at Old Trafford where the bowling coach did something similar in that you did warm up exercises and then did your full bowling action while blindfolded/eyes shut. What it did was make you trust your action and you were know longer worried about where you're trying to place the ball, your just bowling, and by the end of that week I could drop the ball pretty much on a handkerchief becasue my action was so consistent and used that practice routine for quite a while.
Awesome vid guys
Thanks for the encouragement. Sorry it is slow in places, but Tommy wouldn't let me talk more.
Tommy will answer your questions. I'll take your criticisms. That's our deal.
It took a long time to produce, but was worth the effort, we think.
Wayne
so excited to watch!
I thought this wasn't coming out till August! What a happy surprise.
I look forward to the rest of the series. This series alone ought to pay for many months of DC goodness.
As for finding a better word for donkbet, a word only takes on the positivity or negativity we give to it. Donk is a good word for betting out. I'll happily donk, given the right circumstances. It's a term for an action, nothing more, nothing less.
Quite brilliant.
DC sets the bar even higher for real high-quality output.
<3 you all
Tommy plays the piano?
As for finding a better word for donkbet...
I voted sticking with donkbet because douchebag is just too general.
Tommy plays the piano?
And guitar and drums. And plays hell with my psyche, but that's not actually all that hard.
Good stuff. The first 20min were quiet slow but if u keep watching there are some fine advice/ideas later on.

I love to donk but I lead the flop.
i can't wait to watch this
Great vid guys! I'm very excited for the rest of this series.
Really really good. You can tell how much effort was put into making these videos, they are truly unique. I feel calmer and like I'm thinking more clearly just from listening.
One thing that would make it even better is if you could suggest some practical exercises that we can do to reinforce the content in the video. This might be easier done when you get to the breathing parts and such. But anything you could suggest would be helpful, so that I don't just go off and forget and go right back to my bad ways.
i love this.ty
i can't wait to watch this
And see where we screwed it up. We were thinking of you the whole time, man.
I really thought the musical interludes were a great way to maintain a better focus on the dialogue. I'm pretty sure Tommy did that on purpose
, wp.
wow what a voice

Very solid video.
When the time arrives for the next one, I will be watching.
Very good first episode!
I think this series will improve both my poker game and the rest of my life.
Looking forward to the rest!
I am wondering if it is possible to get some book tips for further reading?
I loved the first episode, thanks for this. Nobody asked questions till now so here is mineL
It's about A-game performance. It would be great to get an answer by the man himself
How do I know before I start a session that I am going to be on my a-game?
Since I am focussing more and more on playing my a-game, it seems I put in less volume each day.
Today I played 1k of hands, while normally I would play a lot more
It seems I am just getting afraid of playing my C-game, or even B-game,
which keeps me away from putting in volume
how do I fix this?
Just by starting to play and quit earlier when I notice I am not really on my a-game?
But isn't that too late?
I read Tommy angelo's book and I like the questions he/you ask him/yourself (alot of /) while playing,
but it seems to me that those questions come up once I have lost some money.
Then I start thinking: Hey, maybe I am not on my a-game.
Again, i have the feeling this is too late because then the damage is done

If I were Tommy, I would ask why it matters how many hands you play in a day.

It's a tough problem with no easy answers. And because it has many sides, a multi-pronged approach makes sense and works best. For example, working on returning to A-game in mid-session is one thing. Another thing to work on is lopping off the C-game, so that when you are in your C-game, it's not as emotionally and financially costly tomorrow as it was yesterday.
A-game is an illusive, deceitful creature. Trying to capture him and hold on to him is a life-long endeavor.
Tommy
awesome..Is it possible in some easy way possible to convert this so i can listen to it as a podcast? I have only an old classic ipod
You just need some software that will demux the audio track. There are lots out there, depending on your OS. ffmpeg works on most major OSs I believe.

I'm bed ridden with super cold and was on the verge of feeling sorry for myself when I jumped to DC hoping for something special and I found it.
His name is Tommy, he's here to help.
i cant wait to be tiltless....my current goal in poker...
Awesome stuff Tommy!
beautiful... i think i teared up ![]()
this is going to be my nightly bedtime story.
Felt like grim death was approaching. Listened to Tommy. Now I'm well enough to work (damn).
Small sample size but you know ... just saying.
Unbelievably good stuff. Totally fkng stoked for the rest of this series.
you have delivered greatly, DC. superb job!
Awesome Vid! Can't wait for the rest.
I knew the content of the video would be good, but I wasn't expecting much in terms of Power Point skills. To my surprise, however, the production was actually very well done - much better than I had predicted. It was simple, yet interesting/unique all the same time. The short commercial interludes were a nice touch. Looking forward to the rest of the season!
Watched this video today... instant 200 BB upswing tonight.
Great series. Thank you, this is going to help a lot.
Keep up with the good work.
Best
Good content and awesome production, you can tell there was a lot of work put into it. Waiting for the next episode ![]()

Some of the best advice ever, no matter what subject it is pertaining to. Come back to this part again and again!
Tommy and Wayne, that was a very nice start to the series. Looking forward to future episodes.
Sushi, I think the best replacements for "donkbets" (verb) are "bets out" or "leads out" and the best replacement for "donkbet" (noun) is "leadbet." I also agree with nerdking's point that the term has become so prevalent that it's fine to keep using it, provided you don't associate a judgment with the word "donk" in this context.
Wayne, I'm curious, are you able to play the piano as well? I hope you will be kind enough to give me an answer that is as right as it is wrong. ![]()

Thanks.

Not only not as well but not at all. My musical talent is limited to pushing the Play button on the stereo.
I'll leave it to Tommy to decide if that is an answer which is right as well as wrong. (A perfect Tommy question and now you understand how much I suffered to make these videos.)

This is exaclty why DC is the best poker video training site ! Simply brilliant , cant wait for more , the video lenght maybe 50mins long but it took me an hour and half to watch it with the amount of time i had to pause , rewind , play and take note. This series will eightfold my path to my poker carear , thank you !!

Is there a way to download just the audio for Itunes listening?
I downloaded the itunes version, but i was hoping to listen without killing the battery on my iphone.
Thanks
This should be available in pure Mp3 also...

Thanks for this, guys. Very excited for the rest of the series...

not putting this all up now is prolonging the pain. pretty cruel really.
Tommy, I became re-interested in Buddhist teachings after listening to this episode. Do you have any good book recommendations?
One of the few books i havent read yet is Elements of poker. Now i will insta order it!
If you guys keep Half the good work from the first episode in the final 7 it will raise the standards of vid making by 200%
/B
Just watched it, and I really enjoyed it...even more than I thought I would. And I've been anticipating it for quite a while. Fantastic job guys.
Being the luckbox that I am I decided to float the flop. As expected I made trips on the turn and took down the pot.
Is this still an example of wrong thinking even though it's not negative?
Positive wrong thinking?

As an expert on wrong thinking, this is wrong in a lot of ways. "As expected" is pretty much an example of wrong thinking. Wrong thinking has no positive or negative, just wrong. And how could you have been expecting to hit a 22:1 shot? Did I write this in my sleep?
Showing right thinking was a lot harder than showing wrong thinking. I think.
Thanks for replying.

Tommy, I became re-interested in Buddhist teachings after listening to this episode. Do you have any good book recommendations?
I asked the same question a while ago and Joe gave me the following recomendation (from Tommy I think).
http://www.deucescracked.com/forums/4-General-Discussion/topics/15095-Elements-of-performance-f?page=0&per_page=15#posts-110061
I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
Tommy could make the Earth tilt less.
Having Wayne be a part of this series was an excellent idea. This will inevitably boost sales of Elements of Poker and further widens the gap between DC and the rest of the training sites.
Any chance to release this without the video, just as an mp3?
I'd love to slap it on my mp3 player and listen to it on th train every now and then.
Very good video. I liked all subjects that you guys dicuss, but like the grey area the most, just like with the book. So many hands posted are not really worth discussing because it is even money or very very cose. Focus on big things you can improve before you spend(waste) time improving in spots where it does not really matter.
Great discussion.
Tommy, I became re-interested in Buddhist teachings after listening to this episode. Do you have any good book recommendations?
Hi DJ,
The two books I have read the most and recommended the most are:
The Miracle of Mindfulness – by Thich Nhat Hahn
Wherever You Go, There You Are – by Jon Kabat Zinn
Here is an excellent site that Rob posted a link to recently:
http://www.thebigview.com/buddhism/eightfoldpath.html
I think anyone who spends some time at that site will rate to increase the benefits of watching the EPTPE series.
In episode 3 of EPTPE, I say that I made a webpage that has lots of book recommendations, various writings by me and others, some yoga stuff, some links, and just a general ongoing collection of material pertaining to meditation and mindfulness and suffering reduction and all that. That episode airs in a few weeks, which means I’ve got that long to make the page!
Here’s the url:
http://tommyangelo.com/meditation_101.html
You can check out that page in about a month for more recommendations and other goodies.
The main thing though (there are so many main things!), as the teachings teach us, is that the teachings are just that – teachings. They are important, and they feel good when we read them, but they aren’t the practice. Only the practice is the practice, and only the practice produces real progress.
See you on the path,
Tommy

There's a ton of software that should be able to do that for you if you don't want to wait. I don't have any recommendations because I've never really done it myself, but I know it's possible.
Sorry, had to stop at minute 20 because I couldn't stand the way they talked to each other. I felt like being stuck in a commercial and getting brain-washed.
As everyone else is so excited I might try again though.

Is 'being afraid of going broke' wrong view?
Since 'elements of poker' and this vid it's hard for me to tilt.
I read a lot about buddhism, and it's kinda silly i didn't see how I could use it in poker lol
But still, sometimes I have a session where my trips are never good, and I lose 3 bi's by getting coolerd,
I can't stop thinking: wow, if this continues, I go broke!!!

Gone camping. Back Monday. Will reply to u and andy then. Bye!
epic series.
this kind of knowledge.
The concept of the hands that worry us the most matter the least was probably the thing that I liked most in this vid.
But I started thinking about some benefits to those long hand discussions about marginal spots, like in the clear cut decisions there is no need to really think deep but these kind of spots really force you to think and analyze the game, you also get to see the thought process of good players and learn from that.
Also I think from a math perspective there is always a correct decision no matter how marginal, so especially in todays games those who play these marginal spots better have higher winrates? I mean shouldnt we aspire to optimize our game in every little we can?
Again, great series and Im really excited to see the next part !
Dear Tommy,
i would like to know which point of view you have of poker in the context of
the principle of "right livelihood" of the eightfold path. Obviously it is debatable if playing poker for a living is in peace with this princple since we are "harming" the donkeys![]()
Im just curious what you think about this. And great first episode btw.
Thanks a lot

We didn't roll tape for all the discussions we have endured on this topic. I am on your side and think pretty much the same. However, what Tommy and I are saying here is that often people make the most fuss over something that has very little worth, plus or minus. While I agree with you that it is helpful to hear how someone thinks, it is -EV to get into a pissing match over fractions of a bet.
Thanks for the reply.

I think we get into this quite a bit at the end of Episode 7. Tommy has real problems with this. Not surprisingly, I have a very simple view. Not sure if anyone would be happy with me giving it away, so I'll defer. Suffice to say the subject comes up and could have lasted eight hours, easy.
Next to our arguments over Neil Young versus Lynard Skynard, this is the one we have the best fun with. (I won the second one when I said Neil Young has never topped Freebird.)
Best wishes,
Wayne
I love this video and love DC. Nothing constructive to add, other than I enjoyed it immensely and looking fwd to the rest of the series!
Very good start to the series. I am getting a crash course in Tommy thinking this week and it is great. Listened to the Deuce Plays podcast yesterday over lunch, bought his book on the way home and then listened to this episode today.
Wayne - are you the same Wayne from Hold'em Radio at Binion's? If so I wish I would have listened to the Deuce Plays podcast sooner so I could have talked with you about this project before you left (I am a dealer at Binion's).

Thanks. Yes, one and the same. And on that front, I guess tonight is Wade's last tournament broadcast. Sad times for poker. I wish I had kept all my podcasts from Holdem Radio, just to prove to posterity I was here.
Was it the hat? lol

Please dont drop this idea. I hope to have it on my pod as well.
This is rare case where listening may be better than watching.
Also if you get stuck with making technical changes - just post it as .mp4. We will download and rename it as mp3, no problem.
DC is definitely the better site of all the others. Good Stuff

Awesome vid.
This made me think of how about "supporting" the fish in the chat, does it have any merit. Can we make the fish more comfortable, give them confidence - just to make sure they are not leaving the game and that they doesn't start playing better?
Maybe a side effect to this could be that the other REG's start playing worse vs us?
2 Book Recomendations, both by Steven Pressfield (http://www.stevenpressfield.com/index.asp)
1. The War of Art- is a book about being a professional in any endeavor- many of the ideas in Tommy's work are addressed here
2. The legend of bagger vance- The book has 100% less will smith and is about Buddhism and competition (in golf)
I said Neil Young has never topped Freebird.
Best wishes,
Wayne

very nice video. The scriptedness tho. Have to get used to it, but i guess it has a lot of potential.
But still, sometimes I have a session where my trips are never good, and I lose 3 bi's by getting coolerd,
I can't stop thinking: wow, if this continues, I go broke!!!
is that wrong view?
If you stop right there, then it’s not wrong view.
“If it rains on me, I will get wet.â€
“If I continue to get coolered, I will go broke.â€
Those are both right view.
“If it rains on me, I will get wet, and that will 1) suck 2) agitate me 3) agitate me, and justly so, because I am so unlucky when it comes to rain.â€
Those are three examples of wrong view. Here’s three more:
“If I continue to get coolered, I will go broke, and that will 1) suck 2) agitate me 3) agitate me, and justly so, because I am really unlucky at poker.â€
Basically, if you stop at the word “broke,†it’s right view. If you add-on from there, it’s hard to not stir up some wrong view.
Is 'being afraid of going broke' wrong view?
The problem here isn’t going broke. It’s being afraid. And you captured the problem that causes the problem without intending to, when you wrote:
I can't stop thinking
Tommy

Let’s say that the decision in question was somehow know to be 50-50 or close to it, and you either read or were involved in a huge discussion with expert thinkers about the various merits and drawbacks of the betting options. I think this is time very well spent. It becomes time not well spent when you attach to your own ideas and you identify with them in a way that allows disagreeing opinions to cause you harm.
Dear Tommy,
i would like to know which point of view you have of poker in the context of
the principle of "right livelihood" of the eightfold path.
I spent the first couple weeks of working on this project noodling on what the heck to do with “right livelihood.†First I thought I would just go ahead and bend the meaning of “right livelihood†far enough to have an episode with the title “right livelihood†be about going pro and being a pro – about when to do it, why, how, and then what to do once the commitment is made, and a year into it, and five years, and ten years. There was lots of potential material there that Wayne and I could explore. The episode would have had nothing to do with the Buddhist concept called “right livelihood,†but so what. I figured it was our sandbox and we could build whatever we wanted.
Then I thought of maybe having the “right livelihood†episode be partly about the “going pro and being a pro†topics, and but also go into the ways that being a professional player (or a serious amateur with a professional mindset) could actually be “right livelihood,†Buddhistically speaking, and the ways that it would fall short. Inside that framework, the question “Can being a professional poker player ever be right livelihood?†would no doubt get some air time.
Then I got out the axe and chopped off the whole thing. This opened everything up as suddenly I was not confined to the original outline. Right away I decided that the content I wanted to go into on “Right Mindfulness†and “Right Concentration†was close enough in the essentials that I would mash all that into one episode and call it “Mindfulness.†These two decisions freed up space to have one episode on quitting, and one on reciprocality. The same process resulted in not using “right intention†and instead have an episode called “tiltlessness†and putting it last.
Back to your post…
Obviously it is debatable if playing poker for a living is in peace with this principle since we are "harming" the donkeys
Your perspective here assumes that the determination as to whether or not harm has been caused relies on the statistical outcome. In other words, winners cause harm, and losers don’t. I do not believe that is a rational perspective. Also, you leave out the aspect of harm-causing that is just as important as the harm we cause or don’t cause others. There’s the harm we do to ourselves. The act of harming ourselves with poker must be addressed anytime the “How do you reconcile playing poker with Buddhistic harmlessness?†question comes up.
In short, my reply to your questions/comments are 1) I’m still noodling 2) Good questions are just as good as good answers. Keep looking for both!

Download the iPod version, open it in iTunes, and drop it in your iPhone.
i did and i'm getting the NO symbol...not sure if its because of the iphone or what, haven't tried my ipod yet. ![]()
got it working. turns out i'm an iphone newb and i didn't know that you had to sync videos. thanks though.
Next to our arguments over Neil Young versus Lynard Skynard, this is the one we have the best fun with. (I won the second one when I said Neil Young has never topped Freebird.)
Best wishes,
Wayne
What?!!...
okay, this is a good opportunity for practice. stop. sit up straight. breathe. ![]()
Rockin' in the Free World, imo. Also Skynard could never top Neil Young's entire catalog. imo imo
Good stuff. The first 20min were quiet slow but if u keep watching there are some fine advice/ideas later on.
I think we need a new word for donk-bet. "Leading into the raiser" is too long. And "donk" is a judging/negative word like Tommy says. Could someone with English skillz please figure something out?
I think this is actually an important word and something we need (to contrast with lead - which is just betting out when there was no aggressor on the previous street). Donk works great imo as a verb. It's the noun form that is wrong view.

Agreed.

Wayne and Tommy,
From my Wrong View perspective I want to say:
This was a great start to a highly anticipated series. Excellent content, high quality production, and good chemistry between the two of you.
From my Right View perspective I'm ambivalent about letting you know that:
This was the start of a series. There was content, production, and two people speaking.

Great work. Thanks a lot Tommy/Wayne. A+

You guys are not from the South, obv. Tommy gets a pass 'cause he's from Ohio, but barely. (He knows what tear gas smells like. Really!)
Wayne
Thanks, PH, I think. I'll have to ask Tommy to interpret to know if you're being complimentary. Regardless, from a Zen POV, I guess that was pretty good since it totally confused me.
We appreciate the kind words. We're still working on the project, so I can in all honesty say the episodes get better and better.
Thanks to everyone who commented.
Wayne

I'm happy to make a video expressing why Neil Young > Lynard Skynard.
Soo beautiful!!
Very encouraging.
Thank you!
I really enjoyd the part where you explained why you shouldn't call fish a fish. I have actually tried to do that in the past. Negative labels have effected my play negatively (surprise). I have found myself calling a huge check raises with medicore top pairs, only because I am playing againts huge fish, that is limping and calling 95% of his hands pf.
Eric Liu once called donk bet, trump bet. I like the sound of that.
to quote a favorite film of mine from many years ago...
"i am nothing but the toe-jam beneath your mighty feet-aaaa"
awesome video.
looking forward to the rest of the series.
Guys -- just FWIW, but MP3s of this have been added to the download menu. ![]()

Enjoyed this video. 5 stars
tommy,
In terms of people who berate other players. Would you ever say anything to them if it went on too much? Or just stay quiet and stay out of it?

I always stay quiet. Berated someone for berating is still berating. It's all wrong view and wrong action in my opinion.
Thoroughly enjoyed this first episode & I am looking forward to the next ones.
Nice work both of you
Tommy, you really should consider adding some Caribbean flavour to your background music for these videos![]()
Thanks, man. Good suggestion.
I wonder how many poker players will become buddhists after watching this series. I about two years time , expect lots of bald heads and yellow robes in Vegas.
All kidding aside , excellent series.
I have a question however : my main problem is maintaining focus while playing. I get distracted very easily by internet etc. I also have the feeling that my time on this world is very limited and I always feel the pressure to "get things done". So while playing , I'm doing other stuff at the same moment and thus am not playing my a-game.
I have been listening to Brain Sync cd's while playing and it does tend to help , bu my main question is : does the ability to focus tie in with the eightfold path ?

I read somewhere that "A Buddhist isn't something one becomes, it's something one uncovers."

Totally and completely. See episode 3. It airs today.
Very entertaining video.
Tashi Delek!
Great title and very interesting so far although I am only on episode 1. You gonna make a series on Phowa after stacking someone?? lol.
With palms together, bowing humbly.
I signed up for this series and I'm not disappointed. A+ work.

You have brought a smile of satisfaction to both of us. We have achieved one of our highest goals, and that was to be so good people would sign up to watch.
Our second goal was to be good enough to keep your interest through all 8 episodes.
Our third goal was to make me a better poker player.
Two out of three ain't bad, right, assuming someone makes it through all the episodes?
Thanks for making our day.
Wayne
To be honest, I didn't except much. I'm pretty sceptical about coaching/practicing the mental side of poker and/or how to think about poker. However, this video was really interesting and I'll definitely watch the rest of the series. Certainly a positive surprise.
I've always felt like I'm capable playing better than I actually do and my session history suggests the same; I usually have 1 or 2 of -15 buy-in sessions in a month, and I'm playing (and still winning) at small stakes NLHE. I'm not saying that I'm a great poker player, but I feel I could be able to play much better if I could control my feelings better while playing.
Those -15bi sessions are usually complete monkeytilt, I'm basically giving away money on the tables. I certainly do have far worse tilt problems than most of the players. I've lately even thought a lot about poker in general, is it really for me? I do enjoy playing poker, talking poker and thinking poker, but I feel that I'm too unstable mentally for this game.
This video sort of wake me up, instead of focusing on improving my A-game and learning to play better, I should probably focus on the mental side, mainly avoiding tilt. Even if we assume that I could avoid losing 1/3 of the money on those monkeytilt sessions, it would increase my winrate a lot.
I don't know why it has taken me so long to get around to watching this especially as tilt is something I struggle with
This was really insightful and what kind of scared me most was just how much I resembled wrong view at times. I'm also aware of it when it is happening but continue on anyway. Every time I think I'm getting better and I have a winning month, then one or two sessions where I get coolered really hard doesn't bother me, but if the bad run continues I find myself slipping back into bad habbits and negative thought patterns.
Kudos on the ultra relaxing ivory tickling also
I think the concepts presented in this series are much more important than people think.
I think this is one of my biggest flaws.
Is it possible get some substitutes (for people like me who have not that good english skills)?
I am relaxed now. What was the video about? ![]()
Sorry, had to stop at minute 20 because I couldn't stand the way they talked to each other. I felt like being stuck in a commercial and getting brain-washed.
As everyone else is so excited I might try again though.
Tried again. Everything is sweet as now. You guys are legendary.
Pretty sure you just sold a book. : )
I joined DC yesterday, after listening to some old DeucesPlay podcasts with Tommy Angelo. Naturally, first thing I did was to download the Eightfold path MP3 so I could listen to them while driving to work today.
This is so awesome !
I can't wait to listening to the rest.

I signed up for the sole purpose of getting this series and it did not disappoint. Tommy's appearance on the 2+2 and deuce's podcast is what really got me interested.
Since joining I have been very impressed with the quality of the entire site! The Coaching Tree is great too.
Thanks for making it available as an MP3 -- I listen while walking my dog ![]()

I never thought that by changing the way i percieve players and tables would make me better at evaluating.
I wanna give 6 stars to this video
the video must have done it's job though, because wayne's voice didn't bother me at all by the end.
This is a great video and series. Thank you guys. It has added a lot of calmness to my game and made it more enjoyable.

First off, this is my first video on DC, and it's blown my mind. I never thought of instead of just focusing on strategy, to focus on my mindset as a whole. This part speaks volumes to me, because my A game seems to be constantly improving, but I spend so much time on my b and c game that it doesn't make too big of an improvement. Will definetely take this advice, looking forward to devouring the rest of the series
Hello Wayne and Tommy,
Love your conversation.
I got curious about that results orientedness thing.
I found myself looking at BB/100 stats on HEM way too often, which automatically stops my A game (Logically speaking– while looking at the stats, I’m not checking hand histories and making notes about my opponents. Less than that is worse than my A game. More examples can be made, though).
It happened because I’ve improved my game a bit lately and I was curious about results all the time.
For example, I was playing at 4BB's/100, but now I think/hope I'm adding 2 BB's by playing better.
It didn't work too well, because I tilted like a monkey after a while.
It's similiar like with a bowling story.
So, now I made a few rules for me:
- look at graphs, winnings, BB/100 stats only once a month;
- all the other time I can only look at played hands to analyze them;
To control this somehow, I made an Excel document, where I write my session playing times and also write, if I'm watching at these stats while I'm playing.
What do you think about it? Does this practical idea sounds OK?
Thanks.

Yes. Those are good ideas and they are coming from good awareness. That you thought them up means they are likely do-able, meaning, practical.

I think this is very interesting given the current state of online poker since Black Friday. We are always harping on this series, yet almost no one is speaking of online cardrooms favorably. At the very least, anyone still allowed to play on Stars or Full Tilt should be speaking optimistic words in hopes of attracting as many people to their site as possible, not just now, but possibly in the future for US players.

The first 2 episodes of Applied Mathematics by sthief09 are great supplements to this exact concept.
Great video.... as awesome as I was told it would be or better.... Great job guys... looking forward to study the whole series... Thanks a lot
Im quitting my job to watch more videos!

Yep, that's me. -But I've never been referred to as fictional before.
Furthermore it's hard to badmouth Artichoke Joes because everybody loves that spot, see you there.
Even as a heterosexual male, I must confess my
