Is this really worth defending to a 3bet? Even though the villain seems to have a somewhat high 3bet%

Do you ever consider adding a balanced min raise strategy? It's something I've seen referred to in other vids and I've had some success with it in HU PL/NLO8. I was going to comment about it in the last vid, but didn't.

In spots like this time stamp, it would keep the pot smaller with these junkier hands, making 3 bet defense a little cheaper if you chose to defend, or minimal loss if you chose to fold. Just curious what your thoughts on this are.

Fwiw, when I say balanced min raise strategy, I specifically mean balancing great and not so great hands as well as balancing 2xing and 3xing both. Not just only minraising.

With regards to a min raising strategy, I'm still learning as I go. There are certainly good times to do it and I'm still learning which spots are best. Ugotabanana does a nice job of covering it at your second time stamp, as well as your points in the first post. I've mainly done it against habitual 3 bettors so far but there's certainly more than one good spot for it.

As far as defending 3bets, yeah that's not good at 243 with Q877, the four cards make the hand look much better than it is to a hold em player and most pairs really hurt your hand in Omaha because of less opportunities for wraps, etc.

2nd point 1st, I was actually referring to the KQ82ds hand regarding defending. IIRC, the Q877 wasn't a defense as villain there basically didn't 3bet once until after you turned that monster wrap draw vs his top2 and he lost.

It seems like the villain on the left was so passive, that the minbet strat wasn't really necessary where as the villain on the right definitely had a high 3bet% with a fairly broad range. Because of this, it seems like he'd be a good player to incorporate more min's vs. especially with hands like KQ82ds where they have a little equity IP, but aren't necessarily something you want to play in a big pot. Balanced against a few rundowns, aces, etc where you are 4 betting him may force him to make adjustments that are to your benefit. fwiw, all this is coming from my experience w/HU PLO8, I've only started to study HU PLO more recently.

I think the discussion in this was quite a bit better than the 1st, hopefully there's a good response to it.

Always enjoy your vids though, it sounds like you're from Andover or somewhere close.

That's right, my fault went to your time stamp and saw I was in a monster pot so I assumed that was the hand I called with. Also, I agree that against habitual 3 bettors it's a good time to mix in min-raising.

IIRC Vanessa does this in her HU PLO video and it works quite well. I've done this a few times when I've faced a tilted or similar opponent with pretty good results. It seems like people try to get unstuck faster in HU PLO so playing pot control pre and measuring your equity post flop isn't an awful strategy.

Thanks for the feedback. Also, I'm actually from Rochester, NY but I do enjoy my annual trips to Fenway.
