Ive been pondering the definition of "3 betting for value" when talking about hands without intrinsic showdown value. Can we ever really consider this "value" since we are never getting checked down 3 streets, and we are only making a hand 1/3rd of the time - thus bluffing 2/3rds? I guess I just think the general term is weird since for example, if this guy ships it we are not calling (I hope).
Anyway, I think Q8s has WAY to much value post-flop to waste it on a 3b here, I think. Since we are statless and read free other than stack size, Im not 100% sure, but I think I would rather be 3b a much more polarized range here, with a nuts:air ratio around 1:3, so flatting him with all kinds of stuff, but 3betting tons and tons of trash. IMO

I agree. Assuming he folds to a lot of 3 bets, wasting a hand as good as Q8s seems a little bad, i would much rather call and take a flop in position together with my skill advantage.
The Coaching Tree is definitely one of the best series DC offers. I watched the 4 FR videos and I will watch the other 6max and HU as well, even if I play only FR right now, the series is just super +EV.
Series like that make DC the best site right now for video coaching!
THANK YOU!
PS: More FR videos please!
Simply Baluga.
Tuba is a nit.

While Q8s may or may not be good enough to call preflop and play in position....
you guys are definitely getting better because youre definitely asking yourselves the right questions
Andrew
Thanks for the series all u guys.
Really Really good content in all the videos.

Lengthy discussion (to 23:00) but no-one mentioned (probably because you were all preoccupied with Table 1's suited crap 3B discussion and didn't notice) that this is the 3rd hand Hero had raised on Table 2 in a row (AK on BTN, QQ in CO) with the first two hands everyone folding to Hero's raise.
Now, TT, 3rd hand raised in a row, Hero is called and 3B by BTN.
Shouldn't this make it more likely Hero is being 3B light? Hence weight Hero's response more toward 4B?
I was really looking forward to see vitti`s video in there.
Why did you decide to choose another one?
Is there any chance that it will be used in future episodes?

Yeah I noticed this and I agree that it should push us more towards 4betting (even though I think we can do it for the reasons the guys hashed out).
nice multiway format, pls repeat ![]()
At around 31min, the KQo on a T96r flop, in the BB. I agree with the C/R, because even the hands he can continue with you have good equity against.
Bu what do you do on the turn when you miss, and what when you pair up?
Do you ever barrel without a straight here? Or is his call just to strong and easy to C/F.
Also, since he's not 3betting very often, I assume you fold to that flop 3bet.
Thanks,
PS: I really like these series (1 and 2), it has helped me a lot!
id probably bet a K or Q for thin value, a J for non-thin value, or an A as a bluff, and probably just c/f on every other card.
Andrew
Thank you for the quick reply.
I wrote that question while watching the video, and the answer came to me in another hand (the A4o one, where it you raise it in the CO, and flop an Ace on a very drawy board) and the whole team said to 2barrel there, the main reason being you don't want to play guessing games but bet for thin value. The same applies here when you pair up: C/C the turn leaves you guessing on that street, and on the river, whereas betting clears up the smoke + thin value. Like it.
One more thing: this format is great: a situation comes up, you ask a question, I pause and answer, and then listen to the opinions of 5 great players. Love it.
Cheers!
I think there should be another secret bonus vid. The coaching tree home game, where you guys all play 250 hands or so of 6max so we can see who is the best and decide whose opinions to listen to. Lol.
