Thanks danzasmack. I recognize your name from 2p2 and although this was pretty beginner stuff I think I'm going to like your videos/series. You talk a lot and IMO that's good ![]()
In this first episode, danzasmack introduces you to the wild ride that is 6max Limit Hold’em. After touching on some basics, danzasmack discusses the finer points of early position preflop play, as well as some postlfop “trouble spots†when playing out of position.
"Well, I'm getting 15 to 1." danzasmack provides a comprehensive introduction to Shorthanded Limit Hold'em for those new to the game. Basics will include things like starting hands, hand reading, and developing table reads. More advanced topics include adjusting to table dynamics and preparing yourself to move up in limits.

Haha yeah it's tough to keep me quiet.
And fear not - I'll be coming out with plenty of standalone stuff, and series down the road won't all be beginner stuff.
For what it's worth, I liked it too. Pretty basic, but solid. And you seem to know how to teach. Looking forward to future videos.
Danza, this may just be because I'm still a fish at limit, but I was really impressed with your exposition in the second part of the video. Very clear and well reasoned out. Looking forward to more.
Very nice introduction. I loved that you got into the post-flop play in the first video. Books usually cover all of pre-flop in all positions first and by the time I get to the post-flop stuff, I'm drowning in starting hand charts and blind steal info, that I've forgotten about the feel UTG. Loved the second part, especially the explanation about getting away from a hand like AK when in a multiway pot. Also the explanation about why you are betting on the river (to get called by a worse hand or to fold a better hand). Very basic, but essential stuff one forgets when multitabling or tilting.
Really, really good video. The AKs hand against JediPokerTrix was awesome, and I think you succintly conveyed some very high level though processes in the AQ CRAI hand against the same villain.
Keep 'em coming.
Hi danzasmack,
I enjoyed the video, although it was mainly basic stuff I still found it helped to go over things that I had half forgoten about, I'm looking forward to the rest of the series, and if they are all up to this sort of standard I am sure they will be excellent.
Very well done. Clear, complete and logical. I like that you are including reads with the basics. On the QQ hand with the river ace, I assume you fold to a raise because of your previous read. I wish you had posted 3 months ago when I started 6max. But you will overtake me soon. I looking forward to the rest of the series.
Thanks,
Really like the video. Perfect for my stakes I think. FL 2/4 6max.
A question about the graph you show on the video.
Is that your winrate from the small stakes play you did for this series?
Looks like a really good winrate.
I barely break even due to the high rake on 2/4. Thank god for bonusses and rakeback.
Looking forward to the next episode..
It's a fortunately unfortunate situation that I was unable to post my small stakes graph (2 computers).
that graph was actually from the time period right before I started working for deuces, and is made up of all 10/20 and 15/30 6max.
I'll be posting details of my play at these stakes in a later episode, as pokertracker review is something I think a lot of people don't take enough advantage of.
Also I was on a heater, I am not a longterm 6bb winner.
Sorry.
Hi, just joined for the 7-day trial and this is the first vid. I watched.
Question: The first two hands that you have as examples (QQ on a XXXXA board; AJ on a JXXXK board). The point you were making is to value bet the river inspite of the scare card. My question is, what would your play be if you were to be raised on the river? My play would be to call, but what do you think??
Thank you.
Two other questions:
1. What is your range/action vs. a UTG open-limp? Do you over-limp with any hands? Does your range change? You gave us the hands to open raise with, but what if the UTG opens with a limp?
2. What is your range/action vs. a UTG open-raise? You gave us the hands to 3-bet with, but do you ever want to cold-call?
Thanks again ![]()
Danza,
I am feeling a bit overwhelmed with the starting hand requirements you have mentioned in all of the videos (especiall #3) you had mentioned that you used an excel spreadsheet when you started. Do you have a chart that lists everything you have covered? It would be extremely helpful to have that up when working on the concepts in your videos.
TIA

A much better name for UTG+1 is the hijack (thanks Tommy Angelo), but other than that a solid video.
oh wow, fancied learning a bit of limit and picked this.
Glad I did. Danzasmack makes an excellent video here, very easy to follow. The guy can teach!
6 minutes in, there is a v sexy and inspiring graph shown. Even tho it has downswings, the trend goes up and up and up. So I made a matrixy table background out of it to remind me that these limits are totally crushable and that little downswings are just a small part of the bigger picture even for a horrifically overqualified player/expert ie Chuck ^.^
This video was perfect for me I believe it will help form a good foundation.Looking forward to watching the rest of the series.
Thanks Danzasmack, i've enjoyed watching the videos for this series. I'm looking forward to improving my game.
I know this thread is really old, but I just wanted to say how much I love these videos. Just watching the first three episodes has really improved the way I think about poker. The best part has been his explanation of how to make reads on the other players. I know this doesn't mean much, but I just killed for a few hours on a 0.02/0.04 6max table. I was able to steal a lot of pots with my aggression, and I avoided some big mistakes due to some basic hand reads. Great videos!
Are you kidding? That means a lot to me! I'm happy you enjoyed the series, keep on crushing! And thanks again!
So what would we do on this river if P5 raises and player 2 calls?
I am not Danzasmack, but that sounds like an easy fold to me.
Hey Chuck, the 2nd last hand where you have A
J
, and you say to c/f river on 9T338 board, can you explain how close you think c/c is? KQ/KJ/diamond draws all missed, and if he bets, his range is polarized to a ten (maybe), a straight and bluffs? Thanks and as always great episode!

Just lol'd hearing the reference to your grandpa--I'm assuming that's the same one from the Hey Ball episodes, and I'm disappointed you didn't make the old man voice.
Oh, and great series; so fundamental and valuable.

It is very much that grandpa!

100% can call there vs. some more aggro opponents and I might consider calling here. I think in a lot of the sessions from my 2nd series (Shouldn't Fold) I'd be calling getting this price but @ the time these .5/1 games were the least bluff happy places on the face of the earth.
Close though and I wouldn't kick anyone for calling.
