Solid start of the season, I love the intro.

I'm the one to blame for having a swedish word in the title but if Krantz wants a swedish name for the apartment, how can it not be good enough for a series as well? Smile

"Avoid assuming you would have made the same play as the coach!"

This made me laugh in embarrassment Gasp...

One important message in both this video and the Angelo one is: Control that EGO! My ego has actually started to grow a bit too much for my likening lately so this is good reminders.

Really like the idea of this series aswell as the execution.

For first-timers, I would also recommend the excellent PDF file that i think KRANTZ has posted in the All About DC forum. It may be a season or two behind but it's an excellent overview of all the series.

Good vid.

Awesome video.

I, for one, know I haven't been getting maximum value from my DC experience primarily due to my video watching/study habits. This video/series has already started me on the right track. I am really excited and inspired to use these techniques from now on. Thanks for this DC!

Should be required viewing, imo.

Just wanted to use this video as a shoutout potential to the new player we've been working on which many of you are now using:

http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/866-Using-the-Flash-Video-Player

The notes UX still has work to be done, but we've ironed out almost all of the big bugs in the player now and the response has been overwhelmingly positive. Should be very helpful for your study habits. Smile

Cool idea for a series, I'll be following it for sure. Any chance that you can fit in an episode (or part of one) on doing session reviews? Would be interesting to see how you review your play, and whether you recommend spending time analyzing the play of regs you are up against frequently, etc.

+1 on the session review suggestion - I don't feel like I'm really getting my money's worth out of HEM because I'm not sure how best to review sessions once I'm finished.

I like the idea of pausing the video and thinking about whats going on, just I don't see the entire table anymore, because of these options 'Copy link...' 'Comment ...' 'Make a note'

Is there any way to get rid of this?

We'll be releasing an updated version of the player that will have this. We're working on it but it's requiring a bit of rewriting.

Or to get on of those pens with four colors built in where you just switch levers for the color you want... but seriously just writing the first initial for the suit or a simple s for suited is much easier and works fine.

Yah i should get one of those pens for sure but i dont like to just write the initial of the suit , when reading through hands it just makes it so much easier to it take in when you have the them coloured , another thing i do is , for example yesturday i was going on a 2 hour drive so i bring a voice recorder and make a recording of different thinks like hand equitys , or pot odds and percentages , so today after listenin to it for some of the drive i know of my head that a gutshot is 8.7% or 10.5:1 on the turn , or flush with overs is 54% or .85:1 on the flop ... feels great to have all these numbers locked into my head

I use Evernote (free) for my notes.

It is pretty much the Holdem Manager of note taking programs. It doesn't show the notes on the desktop, but is is pretty much ideal for sorting lots and lots of notes without spending time on it.

You can basically just jot down notes in it, and use the search feature to find what you are looking for.

Agreed. I also like that you can use Evernote with your iPhone, BB, or via browser so you can access your notes just about anywhere. The OCR/search is also pretty useful for uploading scans or PDFs.

When you talk about making sure that the video were watching has our FULL attention I just had a quick question. I 100% agree with this but what If we decide to watch a video at a time where we would normally be doing something else. Ex: I play poker from noon-6pm, I watch videos from 6pm-9pm. Now, Would it be ok if I still watched videos from noon-6pm even though I wouldn't be able to give 100% attention seeing as how normally I wouldn't be watching them anyway. Or would it be better to just put my focus on the tables I am playing instead. I feel that the game/stakes/style I play that I have a lot of "Downtime" in my play (Even though I should be paying attention to other players when not in a hand) that would enable me to watch a video as well.

i've done this before, but it's definitely not optimal for either activity. I would just ask myself how much my edge is dropping by having a distraction going and how much I'm really focusing on the video and getting out of it? I think for most people they end up just not getting much out of the vid but having it distract them enough to hurt their edge. I know it's true for me in some cases and I had to shut the video off.

If you're 2 tabling full ring, I could see it working out...but if you're trying to 6 table 6max i doubt it's worth having the video on. The break point for most people is likely somewhere in the middle.

if i recall, i'm talking about cbetting the A9 on Axx board. By cbetting we represent the most air because we woudl always cbet our air on this board texture. If we check, we represent showdown value so our range is more narrow and face up. If we bet we could have anything from a nutted hand to complete air.

On the river, when we hit 2pair with our A9: you said if he bet out wed just call because hes probably not gonna call with AQ, since if we wanted to bluff wed bluff the turn probably, so if we shove hes gonna fold. And maybe thats true, but looking from the perspective that the only hand that beats us that takes this line is 99, which has 1 combo, and there are 8 combos of AQ as you mentioned and possibly other Axs, like AJ and AT. So if we lets say make a little raise, just over a minraise, dont you think theres a decent chance we get a 'pot-odds' call from this guy? Because, at first i thought about shoving too when you brought up the 'what if he bets', but its hard to put us on the bluff so shoving is not going to accomplish much, yeah

yea good point. I think we have the best hand nearly always so it's kind of a freeroll and if we are wrong and he would call with AQ then we're leaving a lot of $ on the table

I predicted everything you would do so far, but here I predicted wrong.

Didn't you say that it was most likely the player would 3b a hand like AK, so we're not all that worried about that, nor are we that worried about AA and KK, since there's already one of each on the board and you've got an Ace.

So then it's most likely, if he were to bet the river that his hand is AJ or AQ, or if the bet was really small, maybe a Kx or weak ace or something weakish who thinks you're weak since you checked the turn and want to get value.

Isn't there some merits to shoving your A9 hand if we think it's most likely he's got AQ or AJ, if he bet like 240 - 300 on the river?

Rally like what this series is about.

I get my University students to setup different profiles on their computers, eg: Gaming, Studying and writing, so that they can actively limit distractions. So for example, Gaming would be all apps etc enabled, study would be the internet but no email instant messages and writing would only be MS Word.

Hope it helps Smile

One other thing, when making notes try and use a non-standard font -e.g 'handwriting' and tryusing lots of different colours. Studies have shown that this helps with the retainment of new information. Smile
