Really, REALLY enjoyed this one. Great stuff Josh. I needed to hear some of this stuff right now, especially with regards to quitting when things don't start well, and continuing when they do.

Funny about the prop bet stuff. I made my first prop this month to hit 15k hands and the consequence was you had to donate $100 to the other person's favorite charity. The reward was going out to dinner w/ my lady. Let's just say we went to The Melting Pot last night Smile

You mentioned you vs PLO, HU, etc.

How about 6-max vs Full Ring? Which one are you more suited for and why?

Good Vid BTW.

I agree with your analysis of heaters and that's basically how I feel about them. I think this is also alot of how people move up in stakes as well. They grind out their solid winrate over time and when they hit that heater they move up with it continuing to repeat. Of course they won't always stick at the next level up and will have to move down with downswings. Do you feel that heaters coincide with moving up in stakes as well?

Re: Your friend that has the alarm go off 15 minutes after starting a session

I use Prodme which is a mac widget that dings at pre-defined intervals (I set it to every 15 minutes) where I have to go through a checklist which makes sure I'm playing my A game then refocuses me. Helps a ton.

Great blueprint, the last few ones I've been thinking - so much has been said how are they meant to talk about something original and relevant but you guys keep hitting the mark perfectly.

Professor Plotkin flopped the nuts with this one.

IMO, when a new user joins DC, they should have to watch this before gaining access to any other vid.

Thanks for the kind words everyone. The words of encouragement go further than many of you might realize.

Tecmo: Sticks+meat/bread smothered in cheese sauce? yes please.

bennyonitb: ha, so true. doesn't really work in practice. "wait... so I can not grind today AND do a good thing? let's do that today"

HighOctane: I play 6-max. I actually never really played Full Ring NLHE but I found Full Ring LHE to be a bit boring. I like to get out of line and not consistently run into the nuts.

Easy Squeezy: No question. When your bankroll is pumped up and you're feeling confident about your decisions, it can be a good time to take a shot. Just make sure you have a plan for potentially moving down if things don't go well.

OneLastRoll: That's cool. I had never heard of anyone else who had done that to check on his mental state.

Snowraiser: My schedule is dependent on the types of commitments I have for that particular day. It's hard to spell out exactly what I do on any given day because it varies. I try to play poker sessions at noon and 5pm.

I think this is my favorite blueprint so far. They have all been awesome but this one really hit home. One that makes you think "Man I can do it."

Do you find some people that go on "winner's tilt", i.e. they start to play recklessly, because they are up on the session?

I was just asking because you implied that we should go look for the games we had the highest winrate at, which in turn minimized the relative variance, which then reduced the tilt factor. I realize that this might be a rare case...

Also, you said that taking a page off Balugawhale's Blueprint, that breaks are very important. But then you say that if you don't play in a day, the less likely you are to play the next and the next and so on... How do you reconcile those two things?
