Zomg the blueprint is back... Can't wait
Hey guys,
Made this video several months ago, so I apologize if a few aspects are a bit dated.
As it relates to coaching, I have gotten several requests from potential students asking if I am offering discounts post Black Friday, and the answer is YES! Check out my coaching page for more info: http://www.deucescracked.com/coaches/Gman
I am finalizing some things for my next miniseries currently, which will be mostly theoretical in nature as I haven't done much of that since Dog Is Heads Up years ago. These type of videos take a ton more work than duel videos, so hopefully everyone gets something out of them!
As always fire away with any questions ![]()

nice! looking forward to it.
Long time no see Gman,
Nice to see the face behind the voice, and I appreciated the video.
The way you exlained the downswing in a specific game and breaked it down in BB/hour was something I hadnt thought about before, good advice!
What do you think about playing other games (6max, plo) only when your on a downswing at hucash?
I mean never mix the games, you play either hu or 6max(or what game you prefer)
Im really looking forward to your upcoming HU-series!

Yeah x 3. Love theory series'.
-''Put a name to the face?''
-What happened to the espn main event interviews from lat year lol.
I really do not expect you to answer this but given you mentioned his name......
Your thoughts on Girah/jungle/DiH scandal?
I assume you have no comment but thought I would ask.
Also - you still in USA? Thoughts on post Black Friday future of US poker legislation?
Just seen the vid. I have a couple of questions:
1) How does one get a body like that?
2) How does one get to touch a body like that
?
Almost at end of vid, 2 more serious Q's:
1) Which month was this made?
2) The difference between Big Bets and Big Blinds? So is a ptbb a Big Bet?
1) How does one get a body like that?
workout hard in the gym a couple of years, then do a lowcarbhighfat-diet, the rest is up to your genes ![]()
I think it really depends on the individual. For example if you are equally skilled at NL and PLO and also are able to mentally separate the 2 so that you still feel confident and do not have any negative feelings in the other game, then I'd say go for it!
I have advised some students to take long breaks when downswinging, whereas others I can tell they have their emotions in check enough that I felt a break was unnecessary.

Yup, theory series has just been finalized and will likely be mixed in with the content in the upcoming season, starting with the first video in approximately 2 weeks.
Ya my ESPN interviews never aired unfortunately. Instead they chose an exclusive with the German basketball player who started barking at me after bluffing me
And I meant "Put a face to the name"-I fail sorry.

I think it is yet another situation that reflects poorly on the poker industry and that makes me sad. All 3 are people I will certainly avoid if I ever see them in a live setting in the future, and all 3 seem to have very poor moral compasses.
Haseeb and I didn't speak for years soon after the DIHU series was complete, for no particular reason. When we were working together, there really wasn't anything about him that struck me as shady tbh. This was 3 years ago though. So although we used to talk a ton of poker, I really don't know anything about the person he has become over the past few years.
Also - you still in USA? Thoughts on post Black Friday future of US poker legislation?
Yes I still live in Scottsdale (suburb of Phoenix). For now I am happy here-close to family, a lot of my closest friends are here, great weather, beautiful girls, etc. I also live a mile away from the biggest poker casino in the state, so that is a major plus as well.
I do think poker will be regulated in the future, but I don't think it is going to be all that similar to the Party Poker days in terms of how soft the games are. My guess is that we are a ways away from that however, and I think most Americans would be making a mistake if they were relying on poker becoming legalized for either financial or emotional reasons and waited it out as such. A better idea would be to move, play live, go into another industry, or some combination.
Just seen the vid. I have a couple of questions:
1) How does one get a body like that?
2) How does one get to touch a body like that?
I tried to not talk about it too much because I figured nobody would care, but I am completely obsessed with bodybuilding and have been for several years now. The natural high I get from weightlifting and cardio is probably better than almost any other feeling (minus a couple
)
I spend the first few hours of every day in the gym working as hard as humanly possible. Some people ask how I always have the energy or motivation, and I tell them its so much easier when you absolutely love being in the gym.
Nutrition is everything when it comes to physique-eating the right food at the right time. I eat 6-8 meals a day depending on whether I am cutting or bullking. To oversimplify a bit: the vast majority of my food comes from fibrous veggies and lean proteins (fish, chicken, egg whites), with the remainer coming from a low to moderate amount of low GI carbs (rolled oats, sweet potato, brown rice) and good fats (avocado, olive oil, nuts). Like other areas of fitness, mastering what to eat and devoting the time (lots of cooking and cleaning) and finding the mental strength to accomplishing my nutritional goals has become a huge passion of mine. I no longer look to food for pleasure-instead, I see it purely for functional reasons. I have spend 100s of hours learning everything there is to know about the training, nutritional, and supplementation aspects of bodybuilding.
One other thing-bodybuilding has changed my life for the better in so many ways. Every day I leave the gym and have a major sense of accomplishment. Even if I get crushed at poker that day or something else bad happens, winning at the gym makes me feel like I have had a successful day. Bodybuilding has also increased my self confidence a ton which of course helps with women. Ok I'll quit now, even though I could go on and on forever...
You should go on forever.
Seriously, people (poker people) want to know about this stuff. There's only so many duel videos one can watch without overkill. I know Travis Steffen made a vid series on dc about nutrition/training etc but I always like to see more. I think 'Gman in the Gym' has a good ring to it. If you're stuck for a 2 x part vid series, it's an idea.
D'you want me to pitch it to Joe Tall for you?
EDIT: Some more q's:
1) What footwear do you recommend for running/cardio?
2) Do you work out 7 days a week?
3) How much sleep do you get? Do you have naps?
And I meant "Put a face to the name"-I fail sorry.
"For G-man, this is Deuces cracked, cya guys later" LOL hmmmm. So you score 800 on themath part of the SAT so the math side of your brain seems to work well but have you ever been tested for dyslexia ?? or am I just mistaken and when people ask who you are you respond with "I AM DEUCES CRACKED
"
haha but seriously...great video I really enjoyed this/found your tangents entertaining. I was really excited when I saw you made a blueprint. When I first came to this site pretty new to poker and watched one of your duel videos I was in shock that a person could be thinking about the game on that high of a level.
Neway, I saw a while back SSS got at you in a video thread for being extremely egotisical. Fwiw I agree with him to a certain extent (no offense) but I think its a good thing and makes for better videos. I hope I dont inflate your ego too much by saying, for me personally, your vidz are the **** and are the best on this site. I play husngs so its not like your cash vids are helping my game a huge degree (there is no doubt they helped a ton when I was first learning so I want to thank you for that), but I just find your thought process/how you talk about hands extremely interesting/entertaining.
Was really missing out on your HU vids and am pretty pumped about your upcoming series. Your videos alone are worth the subscription fee to this site imo. Nice job on this BP and gl w/ everything.
Peace
Almost at end of vid, 2 more serious Q's:
1) Which month was this made?
2) The difference between Big Bets and Big Blinds? So is a ptbb a Big Bet?
I think this was made in March 2011.
PTbb= Big Bet = 2 big blinds = The size of turn and river bets and raises in fixed limit holdem
bb = Big Blind = What you post preflop
You should go on forever.

Ya if you guys are interested in some training and nutritional videos, I would be more than happy to make them. Feel free to pass along your interest to Joe Tall about it!
1) Like so many things in the fitness industry, many products are BS and won't actually do anything to improve your physique. All these new shoes that fit your toes, shape up's, etc are all marketing hypes and I have read some stuff about how these types of shoes are actually more likely to cause injury. I have always just bought good quality cross trainers or distance running shoes. Just make sure they are comfortable and I'm sure your good to go. Your body image has nothing to do with a magical shoe, pill, or powder; instead, it's about a making a lifestyle transformation which focuses on hard training and correct nutrition.
2) Like so many questions in training and poker, it really depends. If I am in a cutting phase, I will often be a psycho and be in the gym daily for a month, never taking a day off of 60 minute cardio sessions. With weight training however, I will almost always take at least 1 day off a week. This is completely dependent on your training split, or which muscles you work on which days of the week.
However, for the vast majority of people this is actually impractical and likely even detrimental. For one, a lot of people genetically need more time to recover than others, and as such training daily would almost certainly result in overtraining. Further, many people who are new to training have this all or nothing attitude: they are gonna work out every day, but if they miss a day, they take 3 weeks off. Or they are gonna eat perfect daily, but one cheat meal turns into weeks of poor nutrition. The whole concept of dieting for beginners is highly overrated and often corresponds with a constant fluctuation in weight. Instead, you are better of setting realistic goals and that you can maintain forever. Even a perfect physique falls apart with a few weeks of inactivity and poor nutrition. The key is consistency!
3) I get around 8 hours of sleep a night. I am happiest when I am on a standard sleep schedule where I get high quality, uninterrupted sleep nightly. Naps are a problem for me because, like most poker players falling asleep can be difficult for me, and they only compound the problem. No matter your fitness goal, sleep plays a huge factor in your success!

It's funny, in my everyday speech none of the aforementioned are issues. I suppose when I get on camera my mind works too fast for my mouth or something and I end up vomiting out the mouth at times. Believe me, it tilts me way more than anyone.
Thank you very much for the kind words on this and my other videos. With so many great players and video producers on DC, to say mine are at the top is an extremely meaningful compliment!
Good luck to you too man, and thanks again.
I really enjoyed this video thanks!
I really thought it was awesome how balanced your life seems. Poker is just a part of your life. This month, poker has been all my life and I've made more money this month than I have since 2009, yet I still don't feel 100% satisfied. Can you elaborate more on your scheduling and in particular your social life and school life? I feel like it is very hard to do all three at once and want to see how you manage it

You're welcome, glad you enjoyed it.
I am a freak about schedule and time management. I have found when I have a full day scheduled for 16 hours straight, that is when I am most efficient and also most happy. So throughout my life I have always tried to plan a day full of productive or fun activities by the time I wake up that morning. It's when I have extra time that I have a tendency to do nothing instead of everything.
I am 3 years removed from college, but when I was there, I essentially I always put a fun social activity (read: partying) above poker. There are pros and cons to this, but I would miss remiss if I did not mention that I often feel guilt for not grinding more, knowing I left a huge sum of money on the table. The flipside of course is what I mentioned above and in the video, and without question having poker as the source for all or even most of your happiness is a recipe for disaster imo.
Kind of a tough question to answer specifically for you, but I hope that helps.
