The fix for your attention span could be the getting rid of your HUD though. For some people, the HUD is a short cut around fully thinking out a spot or observing their opponents. It's not the HUD's fault, but it's in the way. It may be wise to get rid of it, train oneself to play without it, then add it back in for appropriate use.
Kind of like an automatic transmission. As long as you have a car with it, you're never going to learn to drive a manual. Once you learn w/o an automatic transmission, you can always go back to it. Not a great example, but basically people who can drive a manual can drive any car and people who always had an auto can't drive anything else.

I agree with you but I think it's the exception, not the rule. People should first try to do something else to increase their focus beside just getting rid of
a very valuable tool. For instance maybe just slim down the HUD to very basic stats like vpip pfr 3b and cbet % and leave out the rest if you think the HUD is distracting. IMO for most ppl completely removing it is overkill and not fixing the real problem. It's sort of like using a bulldozer for your flower garden. Sure it makes a hole to plant your flowers but isn't a small hand shovel a better solution?

I really love this series, but tbh some of that biases stuff seems a bit redundant. I don't think we need to hear for the millionth time that someone who won a big donkament might not be the greatest player in the world

I really enjoyed the last two episodes and am looking forward to more. I enjoy your presentation style and the fact that you are willing to give examples even though it might irritate some people.
It's very embarrassing to look back and realize how often I used the bandwagon fallacy when I first started learning poker.

What do you make of guys like Helmuth and Matusow? My theory is that they tilt and exhaust people with their antics but are sort of detached from their outbursts and not inclined to self-consciousness or self-criticism due to being narcissistic.

might get some more of that in the next episode, i can't remember exactly what i said in each because it blends together. I'll make sure to put a lid on that for ep 5-8 (haven't yet recorded)
I should come up with some different examples, but I guess the reason why I kept going back to it is because it's such a pervasive feeling in the poker world that it's hard not to beat this dead horse.

i think there's definitely some of that going on. there's also some self promotion/play a character/controversial figure = $ in pocket going on too.
It can't all be an act though, it has to be a good % of being a clown.

Read the OP and write a response before scrolling down and reading the responses. It will help your thought process immensely. Than read the responses and respond to those. It will help your post count immensely, which will make you a grey-beard with 5k posts who doesn't have to listen to anyone

Hey Aron,
great that you talk about Charlie Munger, I am about to read his book and one interesting concept he uses for investing but we can use for poker is the idea of "inverting". So besides asking yourself, what do i have to do to beat my opponent in general or in a specific hand we should also ask ourselves, what must i not do. Inverting is always looking at any given problem from the other side what we should absolutely refrain from doing when sitting at the table with an aggro monkey etc.
Loving your series, keep the good work up

lol it seems like youre a lil biased here, contradicting your entire series! i dont remember all of the philosophies but to imply that phil hellmuth has run hot for his entire career is as illogical a statement as ive ever heard. i think thats a false cause as to why he blows up when he loses critical pots in tournaments. i guess hatas gon hate!
