The looks I got from the other passengers in the plane when I had them hooked up to my laptop to watch a movie made me chuckle.

You sure that's the correct model?

That's the PC-161.

Could you guys clarify please? Every headset I've ever got has been a piece of junk.

We use the PC161 and the PC166 primarily, so yes, it's the correct model (we use both and they've been about equal as far as reliability, sound quality, etc. goes).

Any Sennheiser rocks.

Anyways, if there's background noise and stuff, you can remove that in Camtasia. Just go in Audio Enhancements, click the big "Remove Noise" button and click "Ok" or finish or something, and the audio quality is improved tenfolds if you got background noise.

I recently replaced my old headset with a Sennheiser PC 136 and indeed; the audio quality is a lot better when you use the usb connector Smile

The Canadian, he hosts a segment called "coach's corner" during the first intermission of the first game on Hockey night in canada, which is well, just that , hockey, in canada!

ps: he hosts coach's corner, while this is 'coaches corner'. bad blunder on my behalf

On a side note, Ive had a few pairs of these in my gaming days and all have ended in the same problem. Either the right or left ear, I forget which, decides to stop functioning.

Anyone else experience this?

Haven't seen this happen and we've tons of them. The main problem we've had (2x) is when the USB chipset gets damaged by someone stepping on it, rolling over it with their chair, etc., but otherwise they've been rock solid reliable. The PC166 is golden for sure.

My 3 year old decided to have a play with mine and the left speaker was broken, simple wire inside. Had to glue the thing back together but as good as new now.

I use a facial moisturizer every single day after I shower/shave. I'll be honest... I've even been known to use anti-wrinkle creams. I have done this since I was 23 or so. I read it in Men's Health magazine over ten years ago. I easily look 7+ years younger than all my friends that are my age.

I am 36, married w/a 1-year old, and barely sleep too.

the 161 is stereo and the 166 has USB sound card adapter? I already have a third party sound card, so you still rec the USB 166 or can I just use the 161 and plug the audio cables directly into my sound card?

Recordings with the USB sound better than I've heard from any third party sound card, I think the noise canceling chip that is built into the USB headset does a great job, so I'd always recommend getting the PC166 w/USB.

I don't think the 141 or 151 have the USB component (Joe shows how important this is when he plugs it in, you can hear the difference in noise canceling). My #1 recommendation would be to order from Amazon.com. You can get the PC136 for under $60.

Okay so I screwed up and got the Sennheiser 161 and it doesnt have the usb. I think I can order it seperatly. However I cant get what I have to work. I plug in the the head phones and I can hear the audio but my mic will not work. When I click Audio options in Camtasia the Device is listed as Realtek HD Audio Input (this is located on my PC tool bar and when I test the headset it works but no mic). Source is listed as Line Volume.

Any ideas???

Thanks

You need a mic input on your soundcard, line volume may be a digital input. I have this problem on my Macbook Pro, need to have a USB input or to have a digital input for the mic jack. That's one of the huge strengths of the USB in that regard.

You don't have to change the resolution on the monitors. Just record the tables at their natural resolution and the video will be close to 1600x1200, which is a fine resolution for 4-tabling.

They don't sell the USB adapter separately (that I've found) but buy the least expensive headset they have with it, then you have two headsets + one awesome adapter and don't spend that much more. Smile

Just a note that the Sennhesier PC136 and PC166 have the same microphone, and the only difference is that the 166 has a better quality speaker in the headphone, and has surround sound output. The headphone shape is slightly different as a result, too. They both ship with the USB adapter. Beware the 131 and 161 models, which do not ship with the required USB sound card adapter.

Comparison page here.

The difference is about £35.

So what are the preferred headsets these days?

I bought a pair that made my ears hot, like way worse than earmuffs. I assume USB wireless would have less sound quality than one with a wire?

Please help me find quality and comfort!

It depends on your priorities - do you care more about vocal quality or audio quality (for music, etc)? What's your main use for the headset?

For use w/ Threads13, I'm going to be starting a year of coaching with him and the pair I bought I had to return. They were super hot on my ears.

So comfort is tops on my priortiy list and quaility for making video review sessions.

I was looking at these: Sennheiser PC 360 Headset for Pro Gaming

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003DA4D2U/ref=oh_details_o00_s00_i00

I'd be glad to look into any recomendations though.

Thanks,

Dustin
