I'm not a huge fan of slideshows but I can't wait till next week when we get to see some live action.
Thanks for doing a new FR series, DC really needed that.

Streaming version cut out with 3:11 left for me. WMV worked fine though.

for future episodes, if you plan to look at hands on the forums again, i think you need to go at it a different way... from what i can tell that part of the video was most likely recorded 2560x1600 full screen and then produced at a much smaller resolution making the font unreadable. itd be nice to either increase the font size in the browser (via view -> zoom), produce the videos in a much higher resolution or record a smaller area of the screen to begin with.

Totally agree about the hands review section. You can't read the hands at all.

Future episodes have had this issue fixed so shouldn't be an issue.

I'm actually looking into the way this one was recorded to see if I can fix it now, but I can't promise anything. Will update ASAP if I can get a better looking version up though, because you're right -- the hand histories don't look great the way they are.

thanks,
Rob

I'm only at the 6:16 mark of this video and I just had to say, "THANK YOU!"
I've been starving for good FR content and I can already tell you've put a lot of thought into this episode.....back to the video..lol.

Like Entity said, I was a dink when I recorded this one and had the whole window recorded rather than the area of text. There should be no problem seeing the text in the future videos.

I know slideshows aren't for everyone, but seeing as this is a "Movin' on Up" series, I wanted to give people a chance to learn from multiple approaches. Different people learn in different ways, so I tried to include some hand dissection, slideshow, and live play. I thought this would give the most thorough approach to a series dedicated in helping grinders move up stakes. Hopefully you guys enjoy the rest of the series, and please leave any criticism or commentary so that future videos can only get better.

Thanks,

Nolan.

Yeh to a FR series. I joined DC for help with FR and I've been a bit disappointed because there is so much 6-max and not enough FR.

Hey Guys,
I have just finished posting newer "higher resolution" versions of this video. All forms are now up mp4, wmv, and m4v. You should be able to read the hand posts he reviews in the forums now.

Many thanks Rusty,

Just wanted the members to understand that the original issue was my fault, and the guys at DC worked hard to correct it. I owe Rusty big time for fixing up the video. I just wanted to apologize to all members for the original snafu and say once again that something like this shouldn't happen again through the rest of the series, as this is the only episode thus far that I have mis-recorded.

I must have downloaded the new version cause I was able to read the text fine, it looked good. Enjoyed the introduction and really looking forward to the rest of the series. I was also really glad to see that you're starting out at the low micros and moving up from there (as opposed to the FWF series which started at NL100). I think a lot of the audience here is playing NL50 or NL25, so most of your viewers will appreciate watching you go through their stakes and on into the levels they hope to be moving up to soon.

Also Nolan I'm not sure how much playing at the micros you did while working on this, so you may already know, but the micros are definitely much tighter than when you started playing full ring. There are definitely many bad players, but most of the tables are filled with multitabling grinders even as low as NL25. At NL50 on Stars, it's often hard to find tables with > 25% players/flop, and the ones that do tend to have 8 people on the waiting lists. At NL100 it gets much worse than that.

I'm probably a rarity among the viewers here in that I played almost 100% 6max until about a month ago when I switched over to full ring (I used to play a lot of live full ring, but as you said it's a different sort of dynamic). I think it's really valuable to be able to play well at both full tables and shorthanded. I started playing more full ring because I really like being able to play a lot of tables and grind out a bunch of hands. I know most of the coaches here are adamantly against massive multitabling and don't want to recommend it to students, but I know that you do play a lot of tables and I hope you'll have a chance to spend time on multitabling issues at some point in the series. Would be cool to hear your thoughts on whether playing a lot of tables at low stakes really does "hurt your growth as a player" or whether you think (like I do) that multitabling is one of many skills you need to have, and there's no reason not to work on it while you are "movin on up".

I look at full ring poker as a mega-table grind, and thus consider mega-tabling intelligently a skill that must be refined like all others. You'll definitely see some discussion on this topic in the future.

Thanks for the feedback Mogwai.

Very nice intro Nolan, I do find a spot once in a while to fold KK preflop though and I am hardly a nit. Like, nit A raises UTG, I 3bet from UTG + 1, total nit cold 4 bets me from MP... stuff like that, but yea its not something to make a habit of at all.

I laughed so hard here because it's so true, I know because I tried it and I used to be shocked when people would just call shoves with Ace 2.

Try this....

http://www.deucescracked.com/playlists/60981

Goldseraph has a chart from which position in his 1st video. I would suggest tightening up his UTG opening range by dropping 22-77 at the micro's.

Amazing video, thanks, I took a pen and a paper at around 10 minute mark and I now have a full A4 sheet of paper with notes. Really information packed and surely helps and has helped other micro FR players out like me.
