Poker Video: Pot-Limit Omaha by n0whereman (Micro/Small Stakes)

Hey guys, nice series.

I would have a request for a short play video. I don't think there has been really a video for adjustements to be made in short play. Plenty of deep/cap/ante videos already so it would be nice to see something different. I think it would also help to understand equity and handranges in certain spots that could be applicable when battling against shortstack players. Some discussion about different/optimal sized buy-ins would be really great too. Mayby even to experiment or at least discussing different sizing in the buyins and what advantages/disadvantages it has. Thanks!

There seemed to be some difference of opinion on this ply, but I thought it was really good spot to bet. Yall said you thought he is usually check-jamming or check folding here and that his range doesn't hit this board too much (or at least as much as ours does). wouldn't that makes us more inclined to bet then? It seems like the hands he would check jam we aren't going to have much equity against anyway, so it would actually be better to bet and take it down vs. his bad hands and just pitch it vs his good hands. Also, If we check back when he was planning to check jam w/ a small FD+pair/GS/something and the flush comes in and we bluff at it, we lose money cause he is not folding. if we check back when he was going to check jam w/ strong 9Axx and we hit an A, but he now has aces up its a pretty bad situation for us. So when we check back we are really only hoping to hit a nonflush J for the wrap draw, and he could still hit a smaller flush on the river. If we want to try and rep the nut flush on a later street we do it better by betting here too I think b/c if we have NF we will frequently have something to go with it so we wouldn't mind getting it in.

I'm assuming his check jamming range would be something like 9+kickers+FD at a minimum? or maybe 9+GS+kickers (QJ89) or FD+over pair something along those lines or better that we will have very little equity against (and even some ROI if we do hit our hand when we check back). If his C/J range is a lot wider or he is very likely to check good hands and not bad ones (probably not a good idea unless he has nuts+redraw-not too likely) or if hes check jamming a lot as bluff then I can see checking back here, but our equity is so bad against his range here it seems like we should just bet and not worry too much about the ~20% equity we have here when we get raised.

edit: the 20% equity is actually what we have vs his entire range assuming he is 3Bing 10%. so our equity when he actually check jams is probably considerably smaller.

Finally unless we have a specific read, I think it is pretty likely that he is check-folding. since he likely has a strong high cardish range (he certainly has low RDs too, but its reasonable to think big pairs and face card hands make up most of his range) that missed this board. he cant have the nut flush draw to go with his overpair hands, which will make him more likely to fold. if he did hit this board with the nuts or two pair, he is not going to want to give free cards, so he'll probably bet. this makes his checking range weaker still.
