If you dont expect betterthanyou1 to barrel very often on the K65r board isn't it better to "float" 97 and then see him check/fold often on blank turns?

Also, you say that you expect him you 3bet your flopraise very rarely but when he does, he will have a strong hand. Well that itself is an argument for just calling the cbet, as you then will stack his strong hands when you turn the straight. When you raise though, you haven't got that opportunity.

What is your thoughts on these arguments of mine?

well he won't always fold the turn. consider that our range for betting the turn is (floats, top pair+) and consider Fender's reputation for getting out of line and you'll have an opponent who's much more reluctant to fold in a situation where he can control the pot size (relatively speaking) on two streets rather than one where he's lost the betting lead and we can threaten his whole stack. he also gets a free card to improve.

also, the fact that he can 3-bet the flop raise isn't an argument against raising. i expect it to happen very infrequently without any real history.

this isn't to say that calling is bad. if i didn't raise i wouldn't fold :-)

Nice vid guys.

Really loved the "Folding is better than calling and making mistakes". Should def. be thinking more about it sometimes. Ty krantz.

Another thing : 37 min : binchik w/e sn opens HJ, BTN betterthanyou calls and you, in SB, fold 76s 120bb w/ open raiseur. Do you always fold here or there are some merit in a call ? I think i'm calling a bit too light in those spot i guess.

I don't think calling is bad there, it's not something I do every time. OOP sucks enough, with small SC's and no fish in the pot it's not that great of a situation I don't think. My implied odds can't be that good and a lot of the time I'm going to flop marginal draws or pairs. Just kinda sucks. Basically the more implied odds I think I have, or the easier the competition is postflop, the more likely I am to call, and honestly even if they are easy to play against all the above negatives are still in effect for the most part.

Why would you not just b/f the turn when you hit the K on the TTJK board?
I mean a guy like him never jams worse there I'd guess. If you check back the turn you can pretty much never really have a strong hand. or do you play a T, a boat or a flush that way?

I don't agree that I can never have a really strong hand when I check back. I definitely can if I think it's the right play vs. this guy but at this point I'm not really worried about balancing or that my hand is "face up" to him when I check back. I'm definitely taking what my hand looks like into consideration for the rest of the hand though.

The reality is that I can't really see him making too many mistakes against my hand if I bet the turn here. He gets to pass on Jx easily, gets to call and c/f Kx easily, gets to c/r me for value easily, and the only hands I'm really getting value from are Kx mostly and I don't think I'm getting called on the turn or the river by those Kx hands, so I'm not really worried about missing value.

If I check back the turn I keep all of his worse hands in, I get information on the river, basically nothing bad can happen when I check back, and he's likely to make more mistakes than if I bet the turn and make the hand "easy to play". Also, since he hasn't really been getting out of line postflop I think he's more likely to have a very strong hand himself when this turn card peels off and I'd like to exercise some pot control in a spot where my hand went from value raise-able to a bluffcatcher.

great video...really appreciate you opening up your game for all to see.

quick question ? did you have much history with anyone at the table. it was hard to tell from the HUD display, for example how many hands in your database versus villian(s) ? who were the weak spots ? I can look them up on PTR (ofcourse) but i rather hear it from you and maybe you can elaborate on what there leaks were. I think it be really interesting to hear what Balugawhale thinks of some of the lines you took.

Folding suited aces on the button, folding suited 0 gappers 150BB deep, both in normal raised pots (4BB opens)feels kinda DIRTY...how are we ever gonna play for stacks if we dont play those hands ?

I had some history w/some of the players. Anything relevant for the video was discussed and I'm not going to get too deep into reads or what I know about their games outside of what's relevant for the video for obvious reasons.

I don't remember folding a suited Ax hand on the button, if you want to mark the hands you have questions about I can explain why I did something faster Smile

Glad you liked the vid Yokel, welcome to DC Grin

Unfortunately, you cannot be told what a joke about the Matrix is--you have to see it for yourself.

Why didn't you raise the A10o UTG with the very loose player on your left, it seems like the type of hand where I am happy to hit top pair against him, and not go to crazy against better opponents?

betterthanyou1's raise first in for the SB was 25% and Fender said he was raising literally 100% ... seems to be a trend in all of these videos, he's often misjudging how his opponents are playing and sometimes not even looking at the actual data he has. It seems to happen when a player 'gets in his way' or kind of 'needles' him in a way with various strategies.... what I've noticed in particular, for example, is that he hates when someone repeatedly attacks his blind or 3bets very frequently (which might be why he adopts a loose 3betting strategy himself). He doesn't get mad but it gets him off his game and causes him to play right into his opponents strategy and get manipulated into over-adjusting.

I mean it always comes down to the assumptions (once you have solid fundamentals) because being wrong about one aspect of your opponents game/thought process could lead to big losses. And the worst part is you never really suspect you were wrong about them...
