nice breakdown of the price structure. it really helped.
how about another video on double-or-nothing SNGs? Just can't figure them out though I haven't played any either ![]()
In this video, vandweller explains how to decipher the payout structure of 18-man SNGs and how to adjust one's 9-man strategy to an 18-man context. He then goes on to analyze both his and his opponents' hands from a recent game on PokerStars.
For all those moments when you are sitting down to an event with more than 9 players our Instructors help you with the decisions to cull out the weak and make the final table.

With Big CHIP Lead and a robust Suited hand I definetly would Raise big from the small blind and look to take it down.

Hmmmmm When you make a weak little small bet like that and he calls.. and a 9 of diamonds comes off on the turn.. What are you going to do????
i liked this vid a lot, you can go to wiz, over and over, it's great, I hear you second guessing yourself, I start thinking more in depth, and in turn I aborb the info better.
talking about the other situations that do not involve you are also good, and very interesting imo. the hands do not need to involve you, but the situations, hand ranges, etc. are all things that we can learn from, and thats what I'm here to do. If you find something interesting, well, it probably is.
Keep up the good work
Ok at 0:50:10, what is that program??

That is SNG Wizard. A must have.
Van, when we have a monster stack 4 handed, something like 15k and the rest about 4k with 10bb or less effective stacks, would it be ok to shove any2 like abusing the bubble in 9 handed games?

I would even say there are many that are not "regs" but still have more knowledge. Seems harder then just 6 months ago.
Great video Van, I've been working at the 9 mans for a couple of months and the 18's just seem much softer. It seems too many people are making critical confrontation mistakes early and their dead money, combined with the way the payout structure is set up, seems much easier to be successful with these. Even if you wind up in 2nd, it stills pays more than first in a 9 man, which can be nice if you lose a couple flips at the end of the tourney. I enjoyed the video, Thank you.

Nice run for now, two pp hitting full house in a row, but with a flop A86 or A6j, is c bet the best option?
