The overbet discussion i though was interesting and is something i incorporate quite a bit actually. An example spot for it that i use it as a bluff is u open two browadways flop come 843 u get check called. turn is a 5.
goes check check. river is a 7. Villian checks to you and i like overbetting here deep in a mtt is really good imo. When he checks 3 times his range is capped and would be leading the river w/ any hand that wants to call assuming he is your average opponent, but if u bet 1/2 pot i see avg ppl snapping w 99-JJ, any 8 etc...... but they are so uncomfortable w/ big choices spots like these are very good.
An example i do it for value is a spot where you open say QQ-AA in MP sb calls u flop comes 722 and instead of betting u check for deception/value. turn is a 3 he leads and u call. river is a T. he checks. This is a great spot to over bet for value because so much of villians range is pp's and it seems so unlikely you would play any strong hand this way to check flop call turn he will call w/ most of his range and will literally almost never c/r bluff here.
these spots are pretty vague but are cool ways to manipulate your perceived range and in turn get your opponent to do what you want them too.

Hey Vanessa,
I am a pretty solid midstakes online cash games player and interested in playing more tournaments. I have not done well in tournaments at all so far. Can you recommend some ways that can help me improve my tournament skills? (ex: tournament training sites, books, how to use hold'em manager to improve, etc).
