Hey Gang,
So this is a long video that I made a but longer. I finished reviewing the entire session and am going to release it as video 3b or something like that, not going to make it episode 4 as I really planned on episode 4 being my first of a few live play vids before getting to some serious classroom type stuff.
Anyway, as I'll mention in part 3b, this villain plays pretty good. I mention after he plays one hand very well how I feel like our hero should be picking a better spot more often than not. While I do feel it is important to play against good players sometimes, having a site like DeucesCracked at your disposal has really made that unnecessary to some degree (I know for me it really has).
So I googled the guy and he is in fact a 10/20 HU reg on FTP who posts on 2p2 and made some pretty well thought out posts. I do feel like my general comments about our hero's play are very applicable and to some effect account for the loss our hero has in the session. The only thing is the episode is very long. I'd love to comment on some things I say and I hope my general thoughts come across. While I do talk specifically about each hand, the thing I really want to hammer home is the turn and how both players really start turning their hands pretty face up on the big streets. Take a look and let me know what you guys think.
Thanks,
Chuck

Yes I'm on the video!!!!!!!!!! <3 <3 <3 Chuck and DC
Anyways I didn't realize he's tough until I play him again the next day (didn't go as bad as this one). One thing I haven't been able to master yet is how to quickly determine if villain is good or bad. Any inputs will be more than welcomed.
I am traveling this weekend, but I'll definitely watch everything later and be commenting.

danza,
You read boards very well.
Please consider getting together with DD, OR doing it yourself.
And make a vid or series on reading boards.
I am amazed that given a 96% range,
the board texture and villains peeling characteristics ,
flop tendencies,
you are able to pretty much tell us what he has.
that makes the game pretty damn easy.
TEACH me/us to do that.
iplaylimt, any time you play a guy and you keep getting surprised at the hand he turns over,
find another opponent. unless ofcourse you are killing him anyway.
edit: excellent vid, dont be afraid to go long, long is ok.

Awesometastic video, absolutely loved it. I find it incredibly scary just how quickly Chuck managed to find exploitable tendencies in the villain's play and clearly explained the mistakes that hero made. Excellent discussion on the KJ5 board and good/bad textures to attack as a bluff. I was very surprised that Chuck pulled out PokerStove just after I had closed it, when I just finished reaching the conclusion that the villain continues with approximately 70% of his range, which Chuck later confirmed.
Even with all his leaks, iplaylimit still plays far better than I do and as a mid limit 6-max player, I learned a TON from this video.

fwiw iplaylimit was up against a good opponent in this video.
imo his biggest leak was not recognizing this, and letting a few hands kind of skew his read. I may have found myself in the same spot vs. him for a while.

Chuck, I am going to make up a hand, but I am basing it on a situation that occurred in this video at around the 10:00 mark, when hero had A3 o/s.
Lets assume you are in the BB with Q5 o/s, and a very aggressive villain who is open raising virtually all his buttons open raises, and you call. The flop is the same as the one in the hand referred to above ie. It’s Jh 6c 8s, you check and villain bets, am I correct in assuming you would call? If I am correct are these the reasons for the call?
1. Queen high could be the best hand, but you are not going to call all three streets with it unimproved, but you will call the flop and see what the turn brings, see below.
2. You probably have six clean outs to a pair, plus, a four or a nine on the turn will give you four additional outs to a gut shot straight, and a seven will give you eight additional outs, to an OESD.
3. If you do pick up a seven on the turn you could consider a semi bluff raise if villain bets.
4. Villain might give a free card on the turn.
5. If you do pick up a gut shot on the turn and you just call, villain might check the river and your queen high might be good.
If you do not improve on the turn to either a pair or a draw and villain bets, would you now fold?

Opponent specific that sounds good. Vs. either guy in this vid I'd probably peel because I will be getting a free card on the river and because I don't bluff much OOP but get called so often I can bet the river profitably.

Okay I'm back and finally finished this episode.
I wanted to say this for a week, but this video is amazingly good. Before I left for my trip last week, I watched the first 10 min and Chuck's comments are right on. Learning when to payoff and when not to is super valuable in HUHU, because pots and small and you make big mistakes if you call too much. And tbh 95% of people call too much rather than call too little.
About the bad flop c/ring: At that time, I was experimenting with c/r more flops because those opponents always give me trouble. Obviously didn't pick the right spots tho, and Chuck explained in details what are good and bad flop textures to get aggressive.
And then in the 2nd half, you get to see my play decently for a while!
The last 10 min are hands that I have doubts about, and they are explained very well.
I don't have much to add because I think Chuck spent a lot of time each hand and explained all the possible plays. I think the best part is that the video is made while he is seeing the hands for the first time. And yet, while explaining everything to us, he still remembers all the hands played and what villain did on different types of boards. For me, sometimes you run bad, and you start focusing on how bad you (or your opponent) is playing and just play a "standard" (fishy) game without going back to analyzing what player you are playing against and what adjustments you can make. To be able to analyze quickly and not to get caught up by whatever crap just happened will make you so much better as a player.
Chuck, I'm very grateful that you do this for me (and for free too!) I hope this video is going to be useful for everyone.
BTW, is there still a ep 3b somewhere not released yet?

Yeah I still have 3b en route but I have to edit it and make it fancy. Will probably finish it Monday because I am super busy tomorrow.
My pleasure btw, I actually played this guy again today. He ran good vs. me imo.

Funny, the way I found this video was a friend of mine was playing on my account, trying to teach him hu. Some guy plays him, wins a little bit and quits, apparently he wanted to see if he could exploit my tendencies. He gave the link to this video, which was nice. So thanks for teaching everyone to kick my butt!
I'd like to look up these hands, see what I actually had and how poorly I played them. Not at home right now...so going to have a hard time doing that for the next week or so.
I do agree that in a bunch of cases I turned my face up which is almost never a good thing. I definitely was taking the whole inducing bluffs a bit too far during this session. Agree 3 betting kj and AT on those low boards were pretty bad as well. I like a cr on the river with the kj when i made trips, given that your range is a pair, which you should bet if I check, or a missed draw which i'm not going to get a bet out of anyways.
I'll write more as soon as I'm not incredibly distracted.
