Joe,
Another informative video. Glad to see you really do take into account user input.
Would you call with the Jacks v the Ace re-raise against a very aggressive opponent?
Joe Tall is riding back into town and lookin' to play some Stud Hi. He talks strategies including tracking dead/live cards, implied odds/reverse implied odds, and patience. Then he reviews the member submitted hands for the week.
Saddle Up brings you an all around look at HORSE by our very own cowboy Joe Tall. Throughout the series he will cover topics such as game transition and hand ranges, all the while listening to viewer suggestions as to what topics he should focus on.

Thanks!
Would have to be really aggro/near maniacal type that was constantly raising 3 street with the biggest door. (you will find these types.)
Hi Joe,
thank you very much your reviews. I'm surprised by how close to accurate my instinctual plays seem to be. That gives me more confidence to keep playing these games. I'm seem to be a little bit on the weak-tight side, but that's fixable.
My comments on the third hand, the (J8)J, were "patrissimo here instantly 3bet me. I'm talking as if he pressed the 'raise any' button. Either that or he was hovering over the raise button like a hawk. Then he paused a few seconds on 4th and then bets. Can I just put him on AAA and fold?". I didn't really see him as overaggressive.
In hand 4 where I flop trips I didn't even consider leading out. Holdover from hold'em, I suppose.

In Hold'em no one has anything. In Omaha Eight, everyone has two (ways) of everything!

I think the main reason to lead out is that he will check an AAx flop without an ace more than he will check a YYx flop without a Y. This is because when he gets two calls from the blinds it is fairly likely at least one of them has an ace. It depends on how aggressive the player is.
Moreover, even though you do have a strong hand that is probably best at the moment, it's quite possible someone else has trip aces. Again, people play lots of hands with aces in them. Any hand an ace has very good equity against you due to having probably 9 boat outs and likely a backdoor low draw. Your hand is far from the monster it appears to be. Not to mention AJ and AK have you in terrible shape.
I would try to balance it though - bet sometimes, check sometimes. Maybe about 2:1 ratio.
My suggestion for upcoming material is 6max O/8

+1.
Joe, is there any chance of getting a full series on any (or all :-)) of the ORSE games in the future? I like Donk to Stud and All Mixed Up and they have been really helpful, but getting only two episodes per season on each game isn't that much to work with. This series is also good, but feels a little unfocused. I'd love to become halfway decent at mixed games, so a series dealing with just one game going from the fundamentals to some more advanced concepts would be really appreciated. Seeing that we have a whole 2-7 triple draw series this season, I hope that it isn't totally unrealistic to have a series on, say, Omaha 8 or Stud high sometime in the future...

I am using this series a primer to what you have said here. Plus, with Blumpster, Gergery and Sp00n around, I think a full series on an individual game would be great with the extra input.
That's great, good to hear that. Thanks, Joe!
My penchant for one tabling, it's perfect for stud! ^.^

Can we hope for this to happen next season?
I dont understand why you led out with the wired jacks hand when there was two Kings showing. Surely leading out if a K and a Q was showing would be better but when two exact high cards are showing, then you are not going to get action as the likely hood of them having another K is smaller?

Could you leave a time-stamp? This video is nearly a year old. Better yet, watch this: http://www.deucescracked.com/videos/866-Using-the-Flash-Video-Player and leave a time link, much easier for me to find the hand and answer your questions, thanks.
My bad Joe.
From 16:00 onwards ;-)
TIA.

Sorry so late. I finally had time to download the video. At 16mins, I have rolled up Jacks, and open raise, and everyone folds.
Could you give me a time link? Thanks.

OK first of all wired Jacks is (JJ)x, I had rolled up Jacks. Now, I know what you are asking.
Just raise your rolled up hands. They are NEVER folding a pair and you will get more action on later street by playing your hands fast.
