Why is this spot so easily recognized as very good to (3) barrel? Are we setting up for a river shove - is that why you want to bet big?
What are the particulars for board, range, player type etc that might help me find these spots? .... I'm feel as if I'm totally blind to them.
How would you even know it's a profitable spot when results can vary so much and for so long when you run them?

It's a board that is hard for him to have a big hand on. He really can't even hit two-pair on a board like this. When that's the case he will often be folding a large portion of his range to 3 barrels.
It just takes practice at the hand reading process and a lot of hand analysis away from the table. As you get better and better at hand reading you will be able to accurately estimate your FE in certain spots. If we find our estimates are inaccurate according to a convincing number of results (we think villain we fold a certain hand but we see it call again and again) then we improve on them and go from there. If our estimates are accurate and the math holds up then the results don't matter.
