lol who needs firefox? Chrome is much much faster and in general better. It has not so many plugins though, since it's 3 days old.

I've never used Fire Fox, but this is pretty slick and will probably get me to change from IE.

haha.

Good lord people still use Explorer?

Chrome is still a beta. It will be released for Mac and Linux as well. And after it gets mature, I'm afraid it's gonna rock more than firefox. right now i'm not ready to quite using firefox: all the extensions i have installed just make it perfect for me.
but without extensions chrome is already much, much better than "clean" firefox. so it's going to rule us all when people will start writing cool extensions (and they will, since chrome is open source as well)
hey deathdonkey, cool video...i like this kind of spur-of-the-moment informational video...it's very "new media"...anyway, i don't get how you opened the window that let you give commands (such as "translate"). Right-click doesn't work...can't figure it out. But I'm a computer spaz. Please elaborate for the slow crowd...
EDIT: nevermind...watched it again and saw that u said CTL-space...that's embarrassing...but seriously, this plugin is huge. Firefox just got a WHOLE lot better.

It is set to open with Ctrl + Space by default.
delicious.
This changed the way I looked at the internets, imo.
TY DD.
woa lay off the coffee, it was kinda painful to listen to you, no offence.
Enormously cool. :-)

This is awesome because Chris (DeathDonkey) doesn't drink coffee.
Rob
BTW, for those who are super into Chrome, it is really cool, but it is also really immature and Google has done some...ahem...interesting things with the EULA you agree to before using it.
11. Content licence from you
11.1 You retain copyright and any other rights that you already hold in Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. By submitting, posting or displaying the content, you give Google a perpetual, irrevocable, worldwide, royalty-free and non-exclusive licence to reproduce, adapt, modify, translate, publish, publicly perform, publicly display and distribute any Content that you submit, post or display on or through the Services. This licence is for the sole purpose of enabling Google to display, distribute and promote the Services and may be revoked for certain Services as defined in the Additional Terms of those Services.
In other words, they can do what they want with content you post through their browser. Right, like anyone would ever agree to such a thing.
They have since retracted that EULA, but just be aware that even though something is cool (and yes, I know I posted about it), it doesn't automatically make it *the shit.* At some point in the future it may give Firefox a run for its money, but with Ubiquity, Mozilla still has a great thing going.
Rob
Yeah I've used it since the release it's pretty nice. And I won't use Chrome because well Google is the devil ![]()
Interesting. I'll give it a shot
This is really sweet!
I learn something new every day here.
Thanks Deathdonkey
wtf,
it says that there are only 2 subscribers to the Deathdonkey script. Am I really the first one after DD to use this script? Awesome work DD!
Sugar Nut
Great Vid, its nice to be informed of these things!
awesome tool, but I have a problem with the dd script.
if I try "convert to html" I get
No valid hand data could be detected
if I try "convert this to html" I get something like this
displaying hand: 0 ----------------------------- Site: Poker Stars ----------------------------- Players ----------------------------- tiloke38 [alias: tiloke38) (51.30) [Seat 1] [UTG] Ripall [alias: Ripall) (22.15) [Seat 2] [UTG+1] powertodream [alias: powertodream) (52) [Seat 4] [MP1] gorgoran [alias: gorgoran) (14.50) [Seat 5] [MP2] Lauterer [alias: Lauterer) (44.95) [Seat 6] [CO] SHADCHAB [alias: SHADCHAB) (30.85) ....
Do you have any idea why?
Fantastic video. Using your script is a breeze and making 2+2 a lot more enjoyable. Thanks!

Yep you figured it out. I'll try to fix it up a little so it doesn't need to be capitalized, Ubiquity code writing is in infant stages right now and it might break anyway when they put a new version out, but you guys really are in on the ground floor of this, I mean it was released less than a week ago. I bet a year from now it will be very common knowledge.
Also thanks jajvirta for pointing me in the right direction (and because I stole the code you sent me and worked off it)!

TY DD.
wow. if joe tall can use it i better check it out!!!

my main question is, when is someone going to make an extension that lets you use ubiquity with right click...i.e. add stuff to the context menu. if/when this is possible then i'll start using it for SURE.
re: Chrome
Yeah, it seems to be pretty awesome (in speed, and overall UI). But I don't think Google will be opening it up for user-made plug-ins, since they're a company which bases its revenues completely off ads, and user-made plug-ins would be one way to get adblock on it. I doubt Google would want their browser to block their own ads.

Google has already said that Chrome will be open source.
Google has already said that Chrome will be open source.
That doesn't mean the distributed version will have plug-in support. It's kind of like Firefox; you can't just download the source code, make some modifications and start distributing your program as "Firefox", even though Firefox is open source too.

This functionality already exists! DeathDonkey just didn't demo it in his video.

Actually, you can -- you just can't call it "Firefox". Check out the history of Iceweasel, the default browser used on Debian Linux, for example.
With that said, someone would still have to write the code. I see this as the largest barrier for this actually happening. From what I've gathered, Google wrote Chrome to be a simple browser that mainly acts as "window manager" for web apps. I.e. the web applications themselves are the focus -- not the browser and all its features. It's for this reason that I would guess that Google is not planning to add add-on (or "plug-in") functionality and would probably reject such a patch if one were submitted.
Customs builds of Firefox can be distributed but, as you say, you can't use the Mozilla trademarked name and graphics. By default, building from source, you get a build called 'Minefield' which gives an indication that it may have features that break
Great video btw, nice to see Ubiquity getting some wider attention.
Dude. This. Is. Fuckin. Cool.
Another good Mozilla tool is Weave. It syncs up all your bookmarks, cookies, browsing history, etc. across all your computers. It's still pretty early, but I've been using it for a couple of months now and it's awesome.

Thank you so much for pointing out this awesome tool. I will be giving Mozilla a look tonight(it has been a few years).
Tool Time FTW!!
I use Ubiquity all the time now. I never really realized how much of a 'mash upper' I am. TY again DD.
I tried to convert some hands on http://foxwoodsfiend.com/ but it said:
Invalid hand header: Full Tilt Poker Game #7901981163: Table Kennedy (6 max) - $50/$100 - No Limit Hold’em - 4:38:59 ET - 2008/09/02 -- line 1
I used "convert this to HTML". Any ideas?
cool tool, but it'll take some time to get used to using it. anybody have any cool tricks they've discovered yet?
Thanks, this is awesome tool.
After having Ubiquity installed for a few days I've been getting a surprising (to me at least) amount of use out of it. I'm really glad you made this video!
hey guys,
im still struggling,
everytime i attempt to convert a HH (including deathdonkeys one <page up>
, it always says "No valid hand history displayed",
did download the add on from DD's link <page up>

I attempted to convert DD's,
and a Poker Tracker dbhand (i pasted) into firefox browser.
"convert to html"
"convert to HTML"
"convert this to html"
"convert this to HTML"
"convert this to 2p2"
none of these worked..... any help???
I post disgusting threads in sites due to ugly conversions and ubiquity would be great.
Any chance of a camtasia video production "how to" from tool time
thanks

deuces_wild,
Sorry for the simple question, but you are seleecting / highlighting the text you want to convert before entering the Ubiquity command right? Also did you just paraphrase or are you getting a different error message - it would say "No valid hand data could be detected".

Cool thanks Joe
Below is what I'm seeing happen when I try "convert this to html", I also tried a raw hand on another forum and had the same result. Tried out "convert this" to see if doing it to 2p2 worked, but had similar woes.

Hey Fuzzwah,
Capitalize "HTML" and it should work (also I'll try to fix this so you don't need to do that). What you are seeing is a default output format that I used to use for debugging the converter, I need to change it so it defaults to something prettier. Thanks for letting me know.

Arrh, thanks. That did the trick. I thought I'd tried using caps after reading comments in this thread but obviously hadn't been doing it right.
Any chance of getting a configurable direct hotkey setup so we can just highlight text and use a single hotkey to convert?
just tried it with this hand:
http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/54/poker-beats-brags-variance/i-believe-counts-soul-reading-309537/
But it doesnt work.
Maybe I do something wrong, check it out pls.
Rebo, that hand didn't work and also didn't convert right for FWF because in the first hand of a heads up match Full Tilt doesn't show the players' stack sizes in the HH header.
-DeathDonkey
Cheers for this DD, very useful.

Hey fuzzwah, from what I have read, their API doesn't support this yet, but Ubiquity is in its infancy so hopefully there will be functionality like this in the future. I did update my code today to hopefully fix the problem of the output type needing to be capitalized, as I know that was a silly requirement. So now something like "convert this to html" "convert this to HtmL" etc. should all work just fine. http://www.deathdonkey.com/ubiq if you aren't set to auto-update.

Chris,
Now I want ubiquity-like features for my entire computer (rather than just ff). Does anyone know if anything like that exists?

Awesome, ty.
However, the demo vid won't play and I get a "URL not found" on their tour link:

Hey DD, just got the account re-fired up.... So i'll give your suggestion a crack and take it from there.
OK.... so I am copying from Poker Tracker
Pasting into firefox browser, 2p2 forum "new thread box"
I re-highlight the text
ctrl+spc
>>>type all previous commands as stated
and then receive the message "No valid hand history could be displayed"
any help you could offer DD would be great, I am quite interested in getting some use out of this program, thanks...
I need to see the hand history you are trying to convert that's giving the error. Can you paste the raw version of it here as well?
-DeathDonkey
Hi DD
Ubiquity v 0.1.2 appears to have done something screwy. Whenever I try to convert now I just get a "You're not in a Rich Text Editing Field" error
Uh oh, here's the trouble with using a tool in beta, things change
I'll have a look at it this week and hopefully get a fixed version once I understand how they changed things on me, thanks for the heads up,
DeathDonkey
This is a copy of the hand history pasted direct from poker tracker 2 (sorry bout the cooler, could've picked a winner)

A new version of Ubiquity came out and I upgraded. Since the upgrade converting hand histories no longer works for me. I was going to try and get the script you wrote again for it but the link at the top of this thread no longer goes to it.
Bump to say I updated the script. The big change is now the command is "pokerconvert" rather than "convert" since it looks like Mozilla added their own "convert" command that does something totally different. http://www.deathdonkey.com/ubiq to install.
The link sends me to a test page. Is anyone else having this problem?

I think it redirects to address that doesn't have the www prefix (ie. http://deathdonkey.com/ubiq). When you're on that page, try adding the www to the address and pressing enter. That brings my browser to the page where you can subscribe to the command. There's something a bit flimsy about the addresses there, I'd say.
Should be fixed now, I hope ![]()
DD thanks for the amazing tool! I was about to rip my hair out because I kept using the old command and kept reading through the posts until I finally answered my questions at the bottom. LOL it's working perfect now Thanks!
Dunno where I should ask this but I'll try this old thread... As many of you have noticed the Ubiquity has been updated to parser version 2, and DD's great tool doesn't work anymore. Has someone translated the old script to work with the new parser? (Searched the dc forum, no hits.) Or if DeathDonkey could update the script it would be sweet. I tried my self but the preview and execute lines were a bit overwhelming for me ![]()

Bump bump. I just installed this and have been playing with it for a half hour (not just for poker stuff). When I look at my ubiquity command list, "pokerconvert" is grayed out and has a line striken through it. There's a littl red flag that says "Old App" on the right.
My guess is Ubiquity knows that the pokerconvert command no longer worked with their updated version and has automatically disabled it.
I think this would be a great tool to have when browsing poker forums. DD, any plans to update your code?
Not a ton only because the FireFox extension works really well (though slightly different functionality). www.handconverter.com/tools for that one. Possibly I'll dig up the changes that made this Ubiquity script outdated if I get some bored time.
