Hi everyone,

I think Michael has great potential to make killer videos. This is his first video, so all constructive comments are welcome. Please beg him to make more too!

Nice work Mike, looking forward to more,

wow i wish you could learn how to run hot from videos like those.
This style makes Vanessa look like a total nit (esp in early 2x6 series) but its fun. Too bad you cant sustain it below 1/2 because people simply dont fold PF and you dont want to play A836ds 4 way from mid position. The only comment on technical side is mic volume level was way to low, should be easy fixable for next one.
All for all great plo weekend, thanks.

And oh i beg you to make more!

Great video Michael. I just have a quick question about a 2 pair hand you played. At 33:02 top right table, you flop bottom 2 pair on an ace high rainbow board OoP and just check fold. However, earlier on in the video (9:40) you flop bottom two pair with T7 and check call two streets OoP. Just some more reasoning to why the decisions were so vastly different will be great.

deuces_wild,
First of all bottom two at these limits should always be played semi conservatively and is a simple fold many times to one or two barrels from your opponents.
At 9:40 I called a three bet with a very marginal hand preflop, which put me in a tricky spot postflop against an aggressive player hu Oop. On a Ks10s7x flop with 107 no redraw I was willing to check/call two streets for a couple of reasons. First, I had notes and hud on him being one of the more aggressive players out of all of the tables. Second, I was always focusing on his range throughout the hand. I check/called the flop bc there is a high probality that he raised with any four and for the fact that I am slightly ahead on the flop against the top of his range. Of course, I am drawing very slim to kkxx, k10xx, but I am pretty much a favorite to a flip to all other premium hands such as AAxx, AsAxXsXx, QsQxXsXx, KQJX, and other similar premium hands. I also check/called the turn bc its was a prefect 3x and my hand was still too marginal to check/raise my whole stack against a 200 bb stack.
At 33:02, I decided to check/fold the flop with bottom two on an AJ9 flop bc he put me to the test with a powerful pot size bet and there was also still another player to act behind me. I don't like to risk to a decent percentage of my stack three handed with bottom two Oop when my opponent is giving off information that he is going to put my stack to the test. Hope that helped!

Fantastic reply michael. Really cleared things up for me. Would you be interested in coaching a 50/100 PLo player?

Fantastic video Michael, really enjoyed it.

Had a question on the AAxx hand on table 1 at 31:17 -- is there any merit to checking this back to control the pot? Seems like kind of a way ahead/way behind spot. When you bet $30 there are you planning to fold to a checkraise? I think i'd be very tempted to checkraise you there with any 4 when you bet 1/3 pot, but I'm also a bluff monkey at PLO :-)

Nicely done man.

I don't really like checking it back when it was three bet preflop with stack sizes here bc there are many turns that could make a dead hand very live. It's very possible that he could pick up a free flush draw, wrap draw, or fill up by hitting a set. Having an aggressive imagine I would be willing to stack off here at times if he check/raises. I do think checking it back has merit, but I would be more inclined to check it back against a 100 bb stack.

You make a few mistakes in this vid, but overall solid play (obv running sick hot). For example in the 9:40 hand you discuss above, you should decide on turn if you are willing to go with that hand or not - calling the turn is the worst option and basically the same as giving up, but instead you throw away some $$$ by giving up and calling instead of folding. Raising > Folding >>>> Calling in that hand on turn against a guy with those super loose stats. Obviously opening that trash from CO was a mistake too pre having aggro 150bb stack on your left there on the button so you misplayed pre-flop.

A bit later in top-right it's a 3-way limped pot and flop is something like 8d6d2c or something, you lead with something like TP+some gutshot draw on flop and both call, then turn bring 2s pairing the board, you check, which is a mistake since you take pot always down there by firing another barrel on turn - it should be easy to see that both villains are on a draw there on flop with like 99% certainty. Now instead you give up and give a free card to them (you hit the gutshot on the river and take the pot down, but you misplayed turn there with worse hand with what you could have took the pot easily down with a ~1/2 pot size bet).

One or two similar type of smallish mistakes later in the vid, but overall pre-flop ranges, c-betting ranges, board texture reading etc. are good.

I am very familiar with your play - I thought you were actually a fish ~year ago when my friends played you much HU me railing them sometimes (you might remember screen names TiltFisk and bddy from Full Tilt) but you got better/not tilted anymore later so for sure you are a significant winner at the moment (I guess HU is still your better game). I personally have played you only in 6-max PLO over a year ago in mid-stakes.

I understand you wanting to jam there on the turn, but I really disagree with always having to check/raise the turn without considering all the factors. His turn bet was strong and he was a 200bb stack. As I said I usually don't like to just check/call all day in Plo, but there has to be a time for it and that hand is def one of them if you like to win with marginal hands. The smaller the stack sizes the easier the check/raise, but it's too likely that snaps calls with a superior hand on the turn and that his play will be a check/fold on the river if he has an inferior hand. Also I don't think you should be raising Oop with marginal hands if you are player that will get ran over at the table, BBBBut if you can make big calls with marginal hands don't you want the aggressive players to overplay big pairs and misplay strong preflop hands that miss the flop? N I know the outcome is always what is important, but did u see him check/fold the river?

I def do agree with you that checking the turn after leading when bottom pair pairs is the wrong play. Thanks and I would be interested to hear if you still think the check/call on the turn is wrong in this situation.

great video, I have seen you around the FTP plo games forever and am glad you finally made a vid! I have a request - there are a lot of six max plo vids but not many playing HU, particularly small-mid stakes. A video 2 tabling 100 or 200 plo hu would be so helpful to me, as I'm a nlhe player learning plo.

fyi, there is a members videos -forum here. I hope to see you contribute there soon, saw your free PLO videos on that Finnish poker site (pokeritieto.fi) and thought they were really good and solid, and in english too. Don't know if it would be possible for you to post the link, legality-wise etc?

At about 18:00 you fold AQQ5 suited to the queen on the button, after someone limps.

Misclick? Or is there something terrible about that hand that I'm missing (you dont seem to enjoy folding very much preflop so I was shocked)?

Also, around 38:30, you have 4hThJsQs UTG with a poster, is it a standard fold? You seem to play such trashy hands some times but I guess it's mostly in late position situations (ie you opening late pos or someone else opening late pos).

QQXX is overrated in general especially when you hold an ace and it is still only suited to the queen. I don't like playing queens unless they are premium, the price is right, or if I can get it shorthanded in positon.

For the other hand, I just simply promote playing a wider range in postion and really tightening up out of position. So I might fold that hand in first position with a poster and raise the same hand on the button.

What about overlimping the QQ**, still no point in doing that (well I guess if you know the limper or one of the blinds is terrible you probably should)?

It's tough to see QQ and not be happy preflop for a hold'em player Grin
