The goddamn dream team. DD + D. Throw in Krantz and that would be solid win.
DeathDonkey and Danzasmack kick off the series playing $1/2 full ring. They break down the typical opponent types in the game and how to deal with them.
DeathDonkey and Danzasmack team up to tackle full ring low limit hold’em. But can they tame their inner LAGs long enough to crush the games?

At last, a series for us full ring lovers!
I'm one of those players who's VPIP is stuck around the 16% mark, so it's going to be great to see where I can start to increase that number profitably.
Great start to the series
oh the old days, when you could just wait for a hand that was likely to make the nuts and get 6 callers at nano limits
I wonder if you can still do that?
Really like the look of this series, I am so rusty at limit even the nano guys would eat me alive. Looking forward to playing some of this really soon. I reckon this game can improve tourney play as the hand selection is closer than NL 6 max.
I am so excited!
I play limit and am trying to learn limit because thats all that is dealt legally in Minnesota.
To me, it seems obvious there is more money to be made in no limit, cause thats the game all the "kids" are playing.
At the Rio two years ago for the WSOP on a day I played, they had 2.. 10/20 limit(1..20/40) games going with not much of a list, and 28!! 2/5 NL and a list off the board.
The online games seem so tight to me, both FR and 6 max, compared to the live 8/16 9handed games I play in. I often see pots with 5 or more players and sometimes with multiple bets going in preflop.
lots of cold calling of raises, and players turning over hands like A..little and any two suited.
I am assuming this in itself tells me this game is soft and very beatable, do you agree?
I dont think its possible online to simulate the game I play in live, maybe at the .02/.04 cent level. But if you cant find a very loose game anymore, can you please discuss this type of game, and the strategies usable etc, I would greatly appreciate it?
most players who play online play 6 max, but even those players are forced to play 9 or 10 handed when playing live. I think many of them fail to adjust, and play way too fast live. I would even venture to say that Danza, you had a hard time keeping the leash on!
I am excited about this series, cause if it has the info I think it will have in it. My goal of becoming a solid 15/30 live FR player is not far off. Is it fun being a dream maker?
I have one more question, RAKE. I have seen this question asked a million times, and I am sure you guys are sick of answering it. But I have yet to see a clear, easy to understand explaination/formula for figuring out how the rake is/or should effect your win rate and playing strategies. It seems to me its a math question that no one has or wants to tackle. Usually all you hear is...."well, at the low limits it certainly lowers your win rate, but the players are so bad it really doesn't matter, And at the higher stakes, its such a small percentage that it shouldn't change things much."
It sure seems to me, its very important and becoming more important as factors in the poker world change toward....better players(because of the multitude of learning possibilities) on average at all levels and higher rakes as casino/card clubs try to make ends meet in an ever more expensive environment.
At Canterbury card club they rake $5 plus $1 for jackpot plsu $1 for dealer tip. So $7.
thats almost half a big bet at 8/16 but only 25% of a big bet at 15/30.
Bob Ciaffone told me to find another game...thats not an option.
any thoughts here appreciated.
DD+D....sounds like a law firm...
(*do you guys bite...if I pullzzzzz on da leash??...*wink*)
Throw in Krantz and that would be solid win.
Throw in Krantz to shout "GO JUSTICE WAGON!!" once in a while to keep the spirits up?
;-)
GO GO JUSTICE WAGON!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hey guys, I really like this series idea as FR is definitely a little neglected in the DC library. I'm also looking forward to the content so I can step into live games a little more easily.
The only suggestion I'd have is to maybe spend a little more time explicitly discussing your goals for the series as well as what sort of content you expect to cover.
DD and Danzasmack welcome to Nitville. I'm going to really enjoy this series , 1/2 has been my FR game for the last 20k hands. You guys really keyed in on some important factors such as seat selection in these games. I didn't seat select my first 10k hands and my win rate was horrible. Now i do and its greatly improved. My only question pertains to the next level 2/4. My current BR is large enough to support 2/4 play but you guys know as well as i do that the rake is even higher at 2/4 FR. If you combine the rake and tightness of play of that limit do you think there is an argument to support skipping this limit and moving directly to 3/6? By the way i am really looking forward to the 5/10 videos as well. That limit is full of tight players , i'm contemplating even playing it once my bank gets large enough even with the rake being less significant. Ill be watching...
I don't think Danzasmack is going to enjoy this series. You can almost see him on the other side of the screen having to pull his hand away from the raise button preflop.
I love the AJ hand where DD said the turn was an easy check-fold and D said "really" in a shocked voice, called and then donked the Jack river! ![]()
I also think FR needs its own series. There are still lots of low limit games on line. I may be inspired to try them again. The first episode is very interesting.
I found that I didn't remember the starting hands I used, but it began to come back over the course of the video. However, I was lost on the seat selection segment. I think the overall point was to get to know your opponents weaknesses and put the weaker players on your immediate left where you can exploit them and the better players on your right where you have position. I guess I could use a required reading list for this season. LOL

I haven't seen the vid yet but I'd be really really surprised if they were advocating that. By having tight/aggressive players on your right you get to play less hands though you do get to have position when you have a playable hand, it usually amounts to small pots that are won infrequently. You want bad players, especially in full ring, on your right because it can create very profitable limp-behind situations as well as tons of profitable late position isolation raises. If you have TAGs on your right, 97s is never going to be a hand you can play in MP, because it's too far off of the button to iso-raise (especially when you're getting called by loose passives). If you have the fish on your right, you will frequently get two or more limps, at which point you can limp along because the rest of the field will be inclined to do so as well (which is what you want when you have 97s).
Just a short note, I'll have to check out the section where they talk about that but in almost all forms of poker (except perhaps 3-handed, and even then it's close) you would rather have a TAG on your left than your right.
Rob
Yeah I'll have to re-listen too, probably our point just wasn't articulated well because I definitely don't put TAGs on my right on purpose. In games like these though with so many extremely tight and passive players, any sort of LAGgy TAG will stand out as hyper aggressive and might warrant putting on your right, whereas in a really loose and juicy game you want him on your left so you can focus on the true LAGs.

omg this is so standard for the whole series. I was shocked - but Chris is a great live player and just like donk to stud I was able to learn a ton and enjoy myself @ the same time.
Awwwww....
Not ipod friendly =*(
That means no getting learnt by my two favorite LAGtards at work. I hope they aren't all this way. (However it would make sense to multitable full ring as its a fold fest anyway)
Great content as usual! Looking forward to upcoming episodes.
hellzyeah. like i said in the 2p2 season 3 thread, I'm a vet of this level at Stars (wildly different than FTP; also, look for the shocking difference between this level and 2/4 Stars games later in the series) for about 50k hands. This level is the reason I learned 6max and eventually went to NL! Great to see a how-to on cracking the rocks in this game. Rock on, gents.
I guess I was confused about the seat selection coming up around 13:00. You were putting loose on your left and TAG on right in previous comments, but it seemed to me that Danza was developing an idea with the opposite for blind play perhaps.
Thanks for the FR video. I need this!
Excellent series, hope for more LHEFR.
Why the c-bet with TT into 3 players with a K and connected cards on flop?

Sigh. Tough for us not to multitable these games.

I don't remember this one offhand, but really "why not?" We could easily have the best hand and need to get value / protection, we can re-evaluate if people don't start folding.
