If you sit down in a game with a player like Krantz,
Chips are gonna hit the felt so hard the table might dance
Things are going pretty well, he's a fish at first glance
Realize 5 buyins later, you're the Bass like Lance.

Sure every now and then he gets his money in dead, yo
You look back at the hand and think, "**** where'd his head go?"
Yeah you might call him a monkey or an action junkie
Just make sure you call him when you need to stack a red pro

For those who play with him, if he's not playin nice.
I'll try to leave y'all with some solid advice.
If he's pushing you around and your stack starts to whither
Check back the nut flush. He'll check shove the river.

also, fwiw,

i'm getting ~40kb download speed again. i think this happened last time I DL'd a video around this time. tested my connection and downloaded media off another site at around 400kb/s so it's probably not on my end.

There seems to be some problem in connections to Europe (ie it downloads from the US s3 servers instead of EU ones). I'm using freedownloadmanager to get higher speeds when that happens, since with it you can use 20 connections, with every one of them downloading at 30-40kB/s (provided you have the bandwidth to do that of course).

I use downloadmanager and its working at 1/3 the speed it normally does.

Nolan/anyone else with speed problems:

Please PM me ASAP. I'm trying to track down what could be going on here to provide logs to Amazon.com but unfortunately (??) speeds are lightning-quick in all the locations I can test from. I'm maxing out my home cable connection right now @ 1000kb/s in Seattle and just downloaded the vid in a little over a minute, maybe. I'm not sure if it's time of day or routing/traffic, I can tell for certain that the problem isn't necessarily on our end, but there may be something that is happening with traffic as it tries to find its way to S3 that causes slowdowns. It's gonna take some tech ninjas to track it down though as the problem is sporadic and doesn't seem to be replicatable.

The last days I`ve had a download speed at about 12-16kb/s from DC (Oslo, Norway). The normal speed I get from DC is around 600-800kb/s.

Entity, maybe that helps. I'm from europe too and if I download via the browser and just use 1 connection, my download speed is pretty slow. But if I download via a download accelerator with multiple connections at once, i can max out my download speed.

You put villain on TT-QQ

Why would you still bet your open-ender when your read says that he has a set or an overpair. I don't see much semibluff-value here, only river-the-nuts-value (like you manage to do)

I think there is a small chance he will fold the overpairs and I'm getting a decent price on my bluff.

I've recently been exchanging a few PM's with Aaron and he really helped me get better at the math of NL so I'll try to analyze this situation math wise:

396 games 0.016 secs 24,750 games/sec

Board: Td 8s 7c Js
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 20.455% 20.45% 00.00% 81 0.00 { KsQh }
Hand 1: 79.545% 79.55% 00.00% 315 0.00 { QQ-TT }

First let's analyze your immediate expectation when called every time (disregarding implieds for the moment)

Pot is: $367
You bet: $320

When he calls you 100% of the time your immediate EV is -$114.02 on the bet:

-114.02 = (0.20455 * (367+320)) - (0.79545*320)
-114.02 = (0.20455 * 687) - (0.79545*320)

Let's now calculate your break even point in fold-equity:

0 = 367x - 114.02 * (1-x)
0 = 367x - 114.02 + 114.02x
0 = 481.02x - 114.02
114.02 = 481.02x
114.02 / 481.02 = x
x = 0.24

Vilian needs to fold 24% of the time to make this a bet of neutral EV.

He will clearly never fold TT or JJ. That's 3 possible combos each, for a total of 6. You hold a Q so there are also 3 possible combos of QQ left in the deck. That's 9 combos total of which he has to fold 3 to make this bet immediately somewhat profitable:

You would gain $29.38 if he folds QQ 100% of the time:

264 games 0.005 secs 52,800 games/sec

Board: Td 8s 7c Js
Dead:

equity win tie pots won pots tied
Hand 0: 18.182% 18.18% 00.00% 48 0.00 { KsQh }
Hand 1: 81.818% 81.82% 00.00% 216 0.00 { JJ-TT }

We calculate Your EV against his calling range(JJ - TT), which is -$136.91:

-136.91 = (0.18182*687) - (0.81818*320)

...and your EV when he folds QQ every time which is $29.38.

29.38 = 367*0.33-136.91*(1-0.33)

If he calls QQ once that would mean that he only folds 2 out of the 9 possible combos that we put him on (2/9 = 0.22) your EV is in the negative again (that doesn't even take into account that you would drop a few points in equity against 3 combos each of sets and only 2 combos of overpairs):

-8.20 = 367 * 0.22 - 114.02 * (1 - 0.22)

To sum up, this bet seems at the very least pretty high variance to me.

I'm not (yet) good enough to incorporate implied odds into these equations (still struggling to understand an equation Aaron has sent me) but I would estimate that implieds aren't that huge when a 9 or an A hits. Reverse implied odds might even be a factor when a K or Q hits and K-high is definately not cutting the deal.

It's 4am right now where I live so I hope there are no major mistakes in my calculations. I double checked them though and everything seemed fine. If there are flaws, let me know.

Would be nice to see and hear how you handle a player like Old Cowboy who plays around 85-90% of his hands, limps and then donk bets. I only quick looked this vid at first, but it seems he gets away with it a lot.

Sugar Nut, your math checks out but as you acknowledge, you're ignoring implied odds, which would tip the scales to at least neutral EV and almost certainly +EV if he c/c for a chop (which is what I would expect, the c/r surprised me) or if I can make him fold a set on the river when I don't hit.

Hey Krantz love all the vids, but just a quick request: Do you think that in the future, you could mention how your decision would be affected if the circumstances at hand were a little different? For example, there's a lot of spots (in all vids everywhere) where like hero raises pre and gets 2 callers, the first one donks into you and it looks like it's gonna be a very close decision either way, but then the second caller shoves, and your decision becomes very clear. If you could just make more "now if this didn't happen, I would've done this differently" statements, it would really add a lot of content to your vids. Instead of just analyzing one hand, we are now able to analyze the same hand played out 4 different ways if you address all possible relevant scenarios.

Thanks for makin monday the best day of the week,

Will
