top left table - i say that in hindsight i should have made a play with K9, but since i haven't been barreling A high boards and likely wouldn't, i think in actuality that it's very likely he has Ax+ here... tough spot for me, he gets a great price on a bluff and makes life impossible for me OOP

This season we have been missing good hu content.

This video is awsome even although things arent going Krantz's way.Cant wait for episode 2.

One question Jay. I know insyderrr recorded this match, but were you using a hud while playing?

Just seem's to me most high stakes players dont use a hud,cos player pool is so small, but you seem to miss out on a lot of info and adjust late, where i think you may have picked up if you had stats showing.

I am pretty sure I did use a HUD for this one, I don't remember for sure but I can't imagine playing a crazy Swede on multiple tables without one :-)

In terms of 3-betting less, I was more interested (at first) in making him make a mistake clicking the call or fold button in 3-bet pots on the river, but his play in position turned out to be a lot better than I thought it would be, even though he wasn't folding much preflop. Even if I didn't have a HUD I don't think seeing a low fold to 3b would change my strategy that quickly - what would and did, however, was how hard it was to make him fold postflop...

You did specify good. But Ill answer anyways.

Your hand looks pretty face up imo. I wish you didnt have the hole cards shown cause I would say you look to have either
a) float w/ like overs and bdfd
b) mid pp
c) monster (A5s or something)

Since there arent too many 5x hands in your range its kind of hard for you to have a monster.

Most the time you will be 3b 22-55 and 99+ so the 9 and 4 dont really hit your range too well either.

So your range really looks like 66-88 and random floats here with the occasional moster.
I think he expects you to fold a ton when he shoves here. Which makes me think he is more likly to value bet small and shove bluffs.

But then again he could think you are thinking this so he is going to value shove and bluff small. Then he could think you think he thinks...

Sorry in the 5th segment for some reason I cant edit. Meant to say random double floats (specifically KQ type hands where you picked up a gutter on the turn.

why don thse videos buffer??

It's probably related to your internet connection - connections that are slower or a significant distance from our current servers may have problems buffering and streaming.

K -- I've added a 4th streaming video server to the mix, which should free up a lot of room. It may take a bit before DNS propagation starts to move people to it, but the impact should start to make it a bit easier for other servers to breathe a bit more soon.

Well, I can have Jx also pretty easily. Regardless, I have to be correct pretty often to make calling good but my hand is never strong and he knows this, so I'm inclined to agree that he expects me to fold very often when he shoves (I don't think he expects me to be on the other level here, but of course that's possible too). Unfortunately, it's not that simple :-(

Turns out overbetting is also a large part of Isildur's river game. It's very likely that he will be overbetting in situations like this with a balanced range, which is going to make my aggressive preflop strategy the correct one to play, so long as it doesn't leave me totally open to exploitation by having a weak range in single raised pots in the BB.

I think we'll have a much better idea of what I should have done here after Part 2...

You have back door to the nuts, king high is good alot, what value hands would he be raising? How much do you learn if you ship and he folds? Could he be raising a flush or strait draw becuase he thinks he has a huge amount of fold equity being the donk was so out of ordinary and getting good odds to do so? Hard to make those crazy plays when things havn't been going your way so far.

Can you explain this further? When watching the video I was thinking that your PF game was actually working against you. It seemed as though his game was a pretty good counter strategy to your initial game and you failed to adjust.

I felt that your PF game it definitely left you open to exploitation in single raised pots and RR pots since he was not folding much PF, playing turn/rivers well, and not 4 betting much. Granted he made a lot of hands in RR pots so that might skew my perception of how well he was actually playing.

I would have liked to have seen you start three betting some more robust hands PF, c-bet a bit less in RR pots, and later in the match I would have probably strengthened my flatting range PF a bit. Thoughts?

What adjustments would have liked to have seen yourself make in this match?

Great video btw. FWIW, I would have played Q7 hand exactly the same given no info.

I think that nails it on the head, he was running really well in RR pots and making hands. Hard to say how good his strategy is if he doesn't make hands (although hard to say he wouldn't just raise me off my bluffs, right? :-)) Re: leaving myself open to exploitation in single raised pots, that's exactly what I'm talking about - re: reraised pots though, I think it's extremely hard to exploit me playing as aggressively as I am, since I can and will just stack off pretty liberally to protect myself against that.

I haven't watched the 2nd part of the match yet, but hopefully I just started folding those trashy suited connectors preflop. I hope I kept my 3-bet% high and quickly adjusted my range in single raised pots to include stronger hands (although that is less likely bc I didn't have to deal with frequent overbets yet)

in actuality i probably didn't adjust my BB defending range right away and just hero called the sh*t out of him :-), which I do remember doing...

Great video btw. FWIW, I would have played Q7 hand exactly the same given no info.

KRANTZ, you say you are balanced in this spot. It seems to me like when you check the river your range is so weak and his jam will fold most of your range. What hands specifically are you using to balance here?

Is it fair to say that preflop he:

a) Seldom folds to 3-bet
b) Never 4-bets

And that in 3-bet pots he seldom folds on the flop?

Do you think he c/calls the flush draw because he expects you to put him on a flush draw if he c/raises and also he expects you to jam the river to maybe rep the flush if he hits because of how crazy you were playing? And how he has seen you do that, I think twice, with nothing or close to nothing?
