this looks like a call to me., i mean maybe he just called preflop with rags, missed the whole way and thought he'd bluff the river, you say your hand has show down value, but you think he bets that small with a ten(if you think he has the best hand, then what other pair does he have, an eight?(hes gotta bet turn)a 3?, a 5? this is contradictory, he could if called with rags as those are rags, what do you put him on?, turns a nice card to bet but let me put it this way, what happens if the river is a 3or 5, do you call then? again its kinda contradictory, having said all this your read on opponent is obv better than mine, just seems weak....

Thanks for a great vid. As a green player, some of this was way over my head, but I still got enough out of it to improve on my little local $10 cash play. Can't wait to watch it again when I understand more.

Sorta curious why you decide to fight for pots with 4everunkown who is a very very good HSmtter. He is #8 right now on P5's top 10 and is probably going to play well vs your 3 bets at a big final table. The reason i ask is because im not sure if you were aware of that information and would it change your gameplan vs him.

Also im sure he knows who you are so hes probably going to respect the fact that you are IP and have tighter opening range bc he expects you to try to shit all over him given stacks.

P.S. 4everunkown took down same tourney this past week

I think Chuck is good but I don't think very many people are good enough to bet 1/3 pot as a bluff at this point. I'd be far more likely to call a 2/3 pot bet. He can still have a monster trying to let me catch up (as when I check twice I'm folding a very high % of the time) and I think he can vbet any pair and he'll probably bet some other ace highs so he doesn't have to go to showdown. I think he'd bet all of his no pair broadway stuff on the flop by the way.

I don't think I said anything about his skill? He doesn't have a choice but to fold to my 3-bets. His opening range is too wide and risk/reward definitely dictates that shoving over my 3-bets is disastrous according to ICM.

I have a distinct advantage because of our stacks and my position. It really has nothing to do with skill. He would be losing money by 4-betting any sort of bluff range.

I think it would be interesting if you went back and did the ICM calculation for him 4-betting 99 or AJ or something of similar strength. I'd have to be folding after 3-betting like 80% or something for his shove to be profitable and there is no way he can think that's true. I made up 80% but I assume my figure is +/- 10%.

sorry if it came off wrong about me making it sound like u said he was bad or anything i didnt mean it that way. I was just asking bc i wasnt sure if you knew who he was or not. And i was curious if that affects ur choice to play pots with him. But i definetly see your point that he is going to have to risk so much and his 4 betting range will be so narrow that any metagame is really not too important.

In his shoes would 4 bet folding be terrible given u have to have the same ICM considerations he does? Could he make it like 68k and fold to a 5 bet shove if he thinks ur going to mess w/ him a bunch?

Hey Luke,

Thought everything was really good and well explained, great video. Just one hand I disagreed with. When you flatted the 3bet with A9dd (which I think is good, and think generally MTT players are too nitty about flatting 3bets given incredible pot odds), and the turn went check/check, I think you should lead the river. Very rarely do people take a line of bet flop, check behind turn, bluff river. He *may* value bet some hands like JJ but he will definitely call with all of the hands he value bets, and more. Just looks like he is aiming for showdown, and you can rep a loose flop peel

The thing is if I bet I have 0 bluffs in my range. In his shoes with JJ he should fold the river as there aren't really any tens in my range. I just think I look far too strong if I bet and checking allows him to make more mistakes.

And with respect to my preflop call, I still don't think it's very good but it is one I'd make every time in position.

It's sort of the same thing with ICM. His opening range is going to be too wide preflop. His aim to adjust should be to FOLD more hands rather than adjust by increasing his variance by 4-betting.

At a final table with an above average stack it is usually bad to start taking plays which skyrocket your variance.
