I'm only a few minutes in, but your HM stats didn't show up on the video :(

Also, good idea on the bet-sizing for the first time you bet - its so logical but it's very easy to overlook. I'm gonna try that now. Enjoying the video so far.

Hey guys, thanks for the comments.

I was just watching back over the video, and wanted to note that the KQdd fold against Moern (the shortstacker) is probably terrible. I was a little rusty on my shortstack math, so please nevermind that fold and pretend I shoved. :o

Yeah, we caught this after the fact, it'll be fixed in ones he records from now on. Capture Layered Windows FTW. I watched through this entire vid before we put it up though and realized that even though he mentions the stats from place to place, usually he does a great job of explaining why he's reacting to X stat in Y way, so you just have to do without the visual cues but it still seems to work out quite well.

Hey, Dog
Nice Video, thanks. About half way through you flat A10hh on btn to CO open and get squeezed by the BB (obv). I much prefer raising here, could you explain why you chose not too as you're probably ahead of CO's opening range, you are just inviting to get squeezed, and lose any initiative in the hand.

Thanks,

CE

Well, the first thing to point out is that it's not the end of the world if I get squeezed by one of the blinds. My goal is not to win every pot as often as possible, but it is to make what is the most +EV play over the sum of all pots (and to configure my range to be most +EV, but you get what I'm saying). The problem of getting squeezed, although Journey who I believe was the small blind who squeezed was a pretty tight player against whom I'm not going to be too concerned about squeezing a lot, is a valid one nonetheless. So you're right that with a lot of hands, it makes sense to reraise some of them more often than I would coldcall if I think the blinds will be squeezing a lot. However, I will definitely be 3-betting way too much if instead of calling there on the button, I 3-bet all my hands so as to discourage squeezes, so I have to decide how to configure my range optimally so that since I do have to coldcall with certain hands if I don't want a very easily exploitable 3-bet frequency, which hands I'd prefer to coldcall with than to 3-bet.

I think it's not too hard to agree that ATs is a pretty good hand to coldcall rather than 3-bet, because it's a hand that when it hits the flop, it tends to get my opponent to bluff the boards it hits. Secondly, coldcalling keeps in dominated tens, dominated aces, whereas if I reraise and I hit top pair and get it in, I'm usually going to be behind my opponent's range. Thirdly, it just has enough high card value that even without the initiative it can play pretty easily, whereas a hand like 57s will be relatively tough to play without the initiative because I won't hit strong pairs as often and my hand will usually be marginal if anything at all. For those reasons, ATs seems a better hand to coldcall than reraise.

And yeah, I'm sorry about the HUD problem. I've got it to work now though, so for the next new video I make, it will definitely show up. :)

Dogishead,

I was very impressed with this video -- good job.

The hand when you opened K7o (i may have the hand wrong , but it doesnt matter) and you flopped TOP PAIR!! only to get c/r'd by schreech on a K97 two-tone (again maybe a little off) you decided to chk behind on the turn. Typically, i would be bet calling here. Can you tell my why your play is superior? Do you think this is not a good spot to float a c/r IP? I assume if you are floating here you need to be bet calling with your top pair hands no?

also, pretty sure journey posted that TT v AK on the AKTdd board on 2p2 (well known dumb nit), but i wont out him. :)

rusty, on the K97, I definitely did not have twopair. If I had twopair, I'd definitely either 3-bet the flop or bet the turn. I believe I had K8 on K97, turn Q. If I bet/call the turn here, I am really pretty rarely getting it in ahead, not to mention if he has KT or KJ he's just going to check/call me. The only hands I'm getting value from are maybe QJ/QT, and any worse hand will fold and any better hand will c/rai. Yeah, he might c/rai a few big draws, but for the most part his c/rai hands on the turn have me crushed. Betting to protect against a draw is also not that important, not to mention I am balancing my range here pretty well when I check behind Kx as well as all of my marginal hands so that he doesn't know by the river whether I have a hand he can bluff off the pot or not, whereas I obviously wouldn't be betting a hand like 9T on the turn.

And no, K97dd is a pretty bad flop to be floating, because his checkraise range on this board generally has a lot of outs to nutty hands so he can represent a LOT of turn cards no matter what he has, so I'm just about never going to be calling the checkraise on this flop with absolutely nothing. K62 maybe, but K79ss is one against which I will be playing much more conservatively. That of course is counteracted by the fact that I have a piece of K97ss a lot more often than I connect with K62r.
