H#1: I pretty much agree with the line taken, even though fnupple sure has a point in the big picture. However at 3/6 I jus don't see that agression. I didn't quite get IPL's comment about the calling ranges being the same on turn/river => v-bet both. We bet turn to get some fold too not just for value and because a bet goes in better like that (against someone with A who decides to call for example)?
I also agree with DD (reading between the lines I think that's what u said Smile ) that if we are XR on the turn it's a bit weird and not such an easy fold (even though I typically would make it). I do X-behind a decent part of my range on the turn and board is drawy on the flop so question is how many strong hands villain XC. Maybe a Tx suddenly feels its equity improved.
I think there are players that I have played that this needs to go to SD on none scary rivers.

I found it pretty interesting that two (primarily) HUHU players (fnupple and ipl) liked either betting twice or checking. I think that might say something about HUHU strategy and hand ranges (and for HU situations in SH games) but I'm not exactly sure what yet.

When I reviewed this hand I decided I disliked my turn check quite a bit. I don't have any special read to justify my play. I kind of didn't want to send this one in but I thought it'd be a good example of a spot that I think a lot of players mess up (myself included obviously).

I think you guys are spot on here about the turn bet and I tend to agree with mike l. that we should fold to a x/r. I just don't think it's going to be a bluff very often. Also I do have a fair number of stronger hands in my range, so I can call down with those.

If you guys were the villian and had A8 would you bluff this river?

FTOP silliness aside... Poke Tongue

Yeah, I butchered this one too. I considered barreling the river but finally realized that my turn bet was pretty bad. I think barreling off is better than the line I took, but the turn give up is best. Great analysis on where JTs falls in my range here.

I will say that I disagree with you guys a little bit about what can value bet here on the end when I check - I'd say some players are capable of firing with 9x here. They realize I don't have an ace and either forget about the possibility of TT-KK or think I would value bet it (I'm honestly not sure which of those two they think). I do not know if this particular villain would fit that description, but in general I don't think we can call here on the river even though I bloated the pot.

I think I tossed this one in mostly as a contrast to hand 2. I think you guys are dead on about my thought process and I did intend to call rivers that weren't a 5 or 8. Cool point about alternative turn cards, especially the KClub.

Yeah that's exactly the problem I was having here - I'm not really representing much (I guess pocket pairs) and I don't feel like I have much fold equity against better. Certainly I wouldn't expect A high to fold, and K high not too often either.

Chris and Mike,

Thanks for your time - I really enjoyed this episode and liked your analysis.

As far as the general state of the 2/4 and 3/6 games viewers should keep in mind that I do game select well and some of the villain plays you see here will not necessarily be representative of the general population. I guess it's my way of combating the fact that I don't make pairs too often. Poke Tongue

Okay I went back and looked at the raw HH and I think you guys are right - I don't think the lineup behind me is right for the J8o to be an open (but I don't think it's terrible).

I will say that I think the Q8s open two hands later was correct based on the players behind me and that in all seriousness J8o would have been good there too.

Just reviewing this today and I realized I didn't put in a link to the original thread. If anyone wants to check that out, there have been some additional posts made since DeathDonkey recorded the video.
