I like it. Even though there aren't that many complicated spots, I think it's very nice to hear this kind of pick-your-brains type of chat, where you get to hear stuff that might go unmentioned a lot of time, but is about concepts that are actually pretty important to hear to us developing poker players. It's like the idea that the most important things to learn aren't necessarily the most tough spots, though they sometimes are, but the simple, fundamental things. At times, we have pretty weird misunderstandings about certain concepts and through a dialog much of it will be discussed openly and it gives a great opportunity to discuss those leaks or holes in understanding. But I guess that's what coaching aims for in general.

(And that's why you should be pretty explicit when analyzing a hand, because what goes unmentioned cannot usually be noted.)

The only real, though just a minor, problem is the silent periods, but you manage to fill them up quite nicely with relevant chatter. It's the risk with single-tabling, because there's certainly going to be times where you just don't get any hands to speak of. Hand reading other players is a good habit in general and you manage to do some of that too.

I understand you have already done all the episodes in advance? I take it that it's because it would too difficult to do weekly and keep up on the schedule? Because I think some interaction with commentary here and your commentary on the videos would be kinda cool, but perhaps not absolutely necessary.

But overall, I liked it.

The quality of play in this video vs the last is vast.
is this because FF is a quick study, or DD is a super teacher, or because a lot of decisions were suggested by DD?
if no lesson was provided between these two videos... the progress is hard to believe..
were you playing your best game in the last video FF?
or just trying to make DD look good by sandbagging a little?

I agree with jajvirta, the dialog between the two of you was very interesting and instructive.

Hey guys,

The videos are done in advance, yes, which is a process we'll have to evaluate in the future. The good side is you get the continuity and all the videos are up on time, but you do lose some flexibility mid-season.

Mickey, between EP 2 and 3 FWF did play a bunch more on his own, which was sort of the point of the series, for me to show you the coaching side but for him to legitimately play many thousand hands and to get experience on his own while applying some of my teaching. I would say a huge difference was the single tabling, it turns out if he focuses and tries to handread and pay attention to mucked cards, he is able to get quite good reads on his opponents Smile

As you'll see more and more, I encourage him to play less tables in an effort to boost his skill, something I recommend for anyone. Just getting off autopilot helps/helped a ton.
